You're in the group queue... Its very possible.

A buddy and I will 2 man every now and again, we'll run into a 12 man every now and again, not too often though.

Unfortunately, that has changed. It's possible for a 12-man to drop against six 2-mans now.

yup you missed it.

A long time ago. When the 12 man queue was useless and was good for nothing more than watch a circle spin for 10 minutes+

So you lost a game to a 12 man.
Nothing to see here.

But its balanced you see 12 coordinating players should be allowed to roll 6 2 mans who are not on comms, thats the way its designed.

Yes, back when they did the 3/3/3/3 matching, announced back in April:
http://mwomercs.com/...and-team-sizes/

Quote

Group Queue
  • Allows 2-10 man groups.
  • Groups can only play against other groups.
  • No solo players.
  • Match Maker will not make a team of 11 players
  • Probability of longer wait times for teams to be built.
  • Cannot incorporate exact tonnage matching like the other queues.

It was later announced that 12 mans were allowed, and no groups are in the solo queue shortly after the last 3/3/3/3 MM update.
