That said, there are ways you can use of an XL Atlas, but in general, the Atlas's strength is that it's got tons of armor and hard to bring down even if it loses a torso. mounting an XL gives that up.

What if i tell you he has 2.27 K/D 503 matches on archived stats (2.56 when he had 400 matches and 1.88 K/D on current stats ?
plus , i'm gonna install weapon cooldown mods for his weapons (3 weapon mods space)

Impressive but still not indicative that XL Atlas are not playing against the limited strengths of the chassis man. Hey, many of us have odd-duck builds we are successful in...it's why I'm not afraid to try them. But given the vagaries of Elo buckets, pug vs group play and everything else....it's not necessarily evidence that you're not the exception but the rule.
Were all of those matches in an XL? I've got high KDRs in alot of mechs that I used to use under-optimized builds on....but I didn't stay in bad builds forever hence their bright and shiny stats of KDR, DPM, DmgPM, KPM etc etc.

yup 400XL has been there since Boar's Head launch , i'm proud of him , no meta , no chessy , just cool and classy.
P.D: The guy comes with standard heatsinks which i upgraded to Doubles and add 2 more of them ; you know ...for heat.

Hey, if it suits your playstyle and you're having fun, who am I to tell you differently?
Still, the XL doesn't play to that chasis's strengths in general, so many would rather use a standard engine anyway.

Glad your having fun in it though! A fast atlas can be a nice change of pace.

I know , a lot of friends say the same or end up laughting XD. The build is made for flanks and breaking enemy lines when making a stomp , so no forward classic brawl of course because of the XL.

And anyone can have a good match in a cheese build, and post a screenshot. That doesn't prove anything.

- You're slow, making it easier to hit your engine
- You're an Atlas, so people will aim center of mass
- If one of you shoulders is opened up people will shoot at it, even if you don't have an XL engine
- Smart people will target your shoulders anyways just to take off weapons and make you easier to kill
However, if your smart (like the OP) and play safe, you can make your Atlas rewarding even with an XL engine. But you need to play carefully.

The builds that are encouraged are the ones with the highest chance of success for the most people. Since that improves the over all experience for everyone. If I'm dropping in a silly build like 2xAC20 Cicada, or my 9xERPPC DWF-B. I tell my friends before hand and see if it's okay with them. If I'm in the solo queue, I announce it on chat, and I always bring serious builds for challenges. Since I'm not the only one in the challenge.

The problem is you devote a 100 ton mech to that in a very mediocre fashion. Dropping 10KPH for a standard 350 would keep you in the fight alot longer. You need to ask yourself at what price that extra 10kph was bought.
I'm not saying it's impossible or hyperbolic instant suicide, it's just not optimal with the BH's hardpoints.
