This is my current build and it seems to be okay:

I am considering this build:

Should I run BAP if I do not have artemis launchers and I do have TAG?

If it was me I would run 3x LRM5 no artemis and fill the available mass with ammo or heatsinks.

You could also go up to a 300XL with no problems. I don't see the point of BAP on a build that will operate ideally at 450-500 meters.

LRM15 with dual large and TAG is a sound concept. I have several Vindicators and Orions designed around that idea.

Youre flaw is a lack of balistic weapon. I dont carehow much you like lrms the balistic is practicaly mandatory if you wanna be a boss get an std 220 and an ac20 if you want youre speed get an ac10 4 tons of ammo 2x ssrm 2 launchers with 1 ton of ammo ams with 2 tons and two medium lasers complimented by a small laser, because i could.

I usually only run BAP when I am using streaks. It has to be pretty close to be effective. If I were running your build I would probably skip AMS as well and just run 3 LRM 5's without Artemis. You could do an LRM15 and two LRM5's with your first build if you drop Artemis. I have a few builds I run with the 2H, but all use some type of auto cannon. I would recommend those kind of builds or an SRM build. I have always felt the mech does much better as a brawler. I usually go with XL engines in my Shadowhawk brawlers as well. Speed to me is key. The one exception is the STD 260 AC20 build.

This was my favorite 2D build:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7b8387009e48d75

I also used these two builds with success:
1. Light hunter type of build:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f864adb81b48aef
Not sure about TAG and BAP together here, I put TAG on to get extra XP and CBills while leveing. Probably could free up that ton.

2. This was just a nasty close range mech:

Hug the Assaults and you will be ignored a lot, well until you blow someones face off!

Hope that helps

What about close combat builds like that:
SHD-2D
97kph, heavy punch, 103% cooling on firing SRMs only, AMS+BAP can be changed to JJ,DHS or higher rate engine(320)
SHD-2D
A little bit hoter, a little bit slower, but the same punch on STD engine.

Jump jets, probably junk the BAP for them. Otherwise, looks good.

I dropped the BAP and original lrms and replaced them with 3 LRM5s and it worked pretty well.

I love the 2D. I used to use the 2D2 but I think the extra energy hardpoint on the 2D is huge.
This is def a close combat build, but it has some range.
Endo
Double heatsinks
368 armor
xl 280 engine
2 srm 6
3 med lasers
ac 10
I added one heatsink to the engine and used the rest of the tonnage on ammo.
I used to use a LBX instead of the ac 10, but the three mediums + ac 10 has proven to be better suited for my play style.
