I have literally had this issue since the start of closed beta. Nothing new here.

I have always had this issue, especially when zooming into the smoke or when on the map with the snow.

i7 2600k @ 4.7Ghz, 16GB RAM @ 2133Mhz, 2xGTX680SLI @ ~1200Mhz all water cooled.

Been playing since June 2012, and this is the first time that I have experienced an FPS drop related to smoke. which began after last patch. It also seems to tie into (for me at least) getting within 200m of an enemy mech, even on training grounds. Reset my router, made sure my drivers were up to date, and then set everything to low. When I start the training grounds I am at 55fps. I tend to do Tourmaline since it is the hottest and you have that atlas in front of you at about 500m. Regardless of the weapons, my fps will drop to ~15fps when I get to about 200m from the atlas. It will fluctuate between 15fps and 45fps while I am within the 200m, and maintain a persistent sub 15fps when pointing the crosshair at the smoking atlas after I kill it.

As I have never experienced this before, I believe that it is something that got out of optimization on PGIs side in the last patch. I have experienced similar fps drops when pointing at the enemy base during assault ever few patches. Please fix this PGI. The game is unplayable as it stands right now.

intell c2d quad 4.2 ghz OC
8gb ddr3
650ti boost OC

on medium or high settings.

Begining: 50-60fps
In game: fps drops to 20 fps sometimes, and lower when a lot of lrms\smoke on screen.

Please, fix it. :*(

can u push that OC up a bit maybe 4.5? that will help you ALOT... baring that unfortunately your cpu is holding you back for MWO particularly.... one other thing put particles, shadows, object detail to low, maybe envirnment as well. the rest u may b able to keep on high.

So... I tried rolling back the driver...that didn't work. Then I ran Speccy and noticed my cpu was at 80C. WTF is causing that?!?! I blew out the computer...and now my nose is itchy and I have a cough, but my fps doesn't tank anymore. The dust was causing the cpu and motherboard to overheat, which was tanking the FPS. Maybe try cleaning out your computers? I worked for me.

Can you please stop suggesting to people to overclock their CPUs for a minimal increase of 0.3 GHz, or 7%, and claiming that this then will make huge performance drops by ~40% disappear as if by magic?!

Not enough that this will hardly even be noticeably, but your are suggesting this to someone who already has an overclocked system, raising the risk of hardware failure even more.

No...

actually it does help, MWO eats every cycle of clock cycle you can throw at it, 300mhz more may get him to the 30 fps mark which is perfectly playable.

and if it doesnt he can lower his OC back
