Looks like there were different artists involved in skinning the Clan Mechs. This might also be true for the subpar animation of Clan Mechs compared to their IS counterparts.
I would also love to see IS-style skins on the Clan Mech in terms of quality. The "shine" (however that is achieved technically) shouldn't be there, as it isn't there for the IS Mechs skins.

A walking tank shouldn't have the same polished skin as a showroom floor car has. :)

I think it's just a product of rushing the Clan 'Mechs out. The assaults walking animations, for example, are just plain terrible.

I should just point out that each 'camo' has a different material setting. For example, the snake skin camo has a unique purple tint to it, the prime camo is significantly glossy while the zebra stripes camo is quite a bit more dull.

I usually stick to the woodland or Dpat camo, got Dpat on my kitfox and woodland on my nova/suckoner/Diashi.

They're all super shiny.

I don't have that issue... might want to check your hardware and drivers.

100m might have been a slight underestimation but I was referring to what is happening in this picture. Even if you paint your mech Titanium White your mech will still show up as black at a distance.

Speaking of Clan 'mechs, the youngest Clan 'mech in the game (and of any 'mech in-game right now, really), is the Dire Wolf, which first began production in 3010 by Clan Smoke Jaguar.

All non experimental Raven and Cataphract variants are newer than that and so are several other IS variants.

Lol, I've complained that I can not make my Dragon 1C shine, and here is a thread complaining that clan mechs are too shiny.

Maybe PGI could consider cammo options that work like default color scheme, but apply either the mat or reflective paint schemes.

Cammo name: "Veteran" or "Factory"

I find it more annoying that any mech that is more than 100 meters from you comes in on your screen completely black which negates any reason for having camo in the first place. Why have your mech painted white on a snow map or tan on a desert map when you stick out like a sore thumb because they only see you as a black painted mech? This black look is only useful on a night map.

you got a driver, video card or setting issue.

I would love to see some of the old IS mechs textures cleaned up alot.

Jenner
Cataphract
Dragon
Kintaro
Blackjack
Atlas

Maybe some others too,
With these mechs, you try to put a Pure white or Pure black or any color on them, and they've always got this fugly brown bleedthrough and poor edges that make any camo look bad.
