Just a thought... it was brought up in another hot topic of AC/20 v Gauss... For the time period on the best of the best and royalty had Gauss. What about tech limits for certain items based on your LP standing within your House?
It would create a uniqueness for certain variants. And also allow devs to introduce new tech and weapons on a small scale. Of course as time goes on I'd expect that you wouldn't need as high a standing to get your hands on Gauss tech, but put a high LP limit on it right out of the gate.

It would also mean that the first people to get Gauss would have a big advantage if other people didn't freely have access. Did you ever play Steel Battalion multiplayer? You had people hoarding the good mechs when they came out and many people never got to touch them (which unlocked the mech for you to use even if that one got blown up). Did you play Chrome Hounds? All the good weapons got bought up in seconds every time the turn cycled.
Free access to everyone is the only way to do it..... else you will get people doing what they did in other games: do everything possible to keep everyone else at a slight disadvantage.
Thankfully they already thought of this and they give you a title and some decals for being part of a house. There was some talk of a salary but I dunno if they are gonna give you CB... that sounds crazy considering thats the game currency (but awesome).

To quote the Devs "Gaining ranks earns special privileges and items, including membership to special units, unit skins, and bonuses to C-Bills and XP. These are all non-permanent and subject to the player maintaining a certain rank level. At the highest possible levels, players can begin to influence their faction by controlling which planets are targeted in territory conquest."

I started this thread to see what other bits of tech the may be on the horizon that they'd like to see in a limited capacity at first. From a beta standpoint I think this is a great a idea. Every time something gets released to everyone on day one without a little tinkering people tend to turn into 5 year olds and rant and rave about how unfair it is and how it should be implemented.
Either way... I just thought it was an interesting way to keep the cannon of the story. The elite units get the Gauss tech first... or cheaper... or what have you...
