I mean yea it CAN be effective, I will admit Im new to the Kitfox, I have to adjust my style of play even compared to the Adder, but still......I just can't fathom a reason to bring it unless I've got that precious ECM arm, and if they ever nerf/fix ECM....anyway its a fun little challenge mech, has good utility for group play if you are good at not getting shot. 2 PPCs runs too hot for my tastes, that ER Large, 2 mediums, 2 machine gun build seems cool. I use 2 large pulses, ECM, 2 jj, and a mk 1 target computer, its ok.
I'm thinking the Mist Lynx is going to end up being better, speed is everything in a light mech.

Yea I've encountered a few of those Kilo, they aren't cute at all..........as much as I hate LRM spam omg LRMS+ECM makes me want to drown every cute animal in existence.

I believe the targeting computers don't actually do anything yet. I might be mistaken.

You are mistaken. The mechlab description, IIRC, says what they do. Basically zoom/range/projectile speed buffs.

I know they say they do something, but they have no real effect. We have this problem with one of the perks, convergence, it says it does something, but actually doesn't.

I would take an IS similar version for CW. To slow to scout its a must stick with the big guys ecm that can do damage when it comes time.

You can take a lower engined Raven 3L to make a "Ghetto Cute Fox."

If you don't bring ecm on a kitfox your doing it wrong! Same with any ecm mech.

I suppose. Firepower in IS could never compete anyway.

In this case, the Targeting Computer actually does what it says it is supposed to. I've tested the range changes on training grounds and verified the increase. It also stacks with modules. TC1+Lvl5 range modules gives a noticeable boost for eam type weapons. TC1 is worth it over an extra DHS. Diminishing returns the higher you go however.

Bah, you folks way overvalue ECM.

My 4xSRM6/2xMG Cute Fox is an absolute monster. Find yourself a fat friend to draw attention, then use your jump jets and 24 SRMs to blast whatever he's fighting to slag. You're so small and manuverable that you're often overlooked in the bigger fights, especially if you -dont- carry ECM. It drops you on the target priority list and let's you get more done.

My Prime runs a UAC10 and a pair of ERMLas. Same deal. No ECM, just supporting a big buddy with a medium mech with tiny hitboxes that gets overlooked in the violence. A tiny, mobile UAC10 does incredible things when it comes to winning fights.

ECM has its uses, but the Kit Fox is just damn good on its own.

Kit Fox is such a sleeper mech. I have been ignored in that little thing so many times, even in league fights.

Then I blow off a side torso and they swing around and glare at me like "What the hell ARE you?!"

Ignore the 'Fox at your own peril. :D

Actually you can cram plenty of firepower into the Kit Fox AND use the ECM which makes it 10x better both for you AND your entire team (guarantee you your win rate goes up if you mount ECM).

Personally I use a C-LPL, 2 C-ER ML and 2 MGs with ECM and I destroy stuff.

This right here, best config IMO. Amazing escort mech. I know escorting fatties is not sexy, and a lot of folks hate to be tethered to a group like that, prefering the ability to range about on their own.

But played well, the energy build with mg's for finishing is an amazing build that will have an impact far larger than the 35 tons/light slot the mech takes up.

.See I do love lasers and machine guns. I have my K2 set up with Large lasers and machine guns. my problem is that machine guns suck. they don't feel like they have any impact. sure they are supposed to destroy body parts faster but you gotta bring enough stuff.
I am really in love with the 2 PPC, 1 Medium laser, build. I've change it a bit, just swapped the laser and one ppc. Set the ppcs to fire on their respective sides, and you get a ecm sniper like no other. You gotta stick with the fat mechs for a bit, just taking pot shots, but once they are engaged with another mech, you can just skip in, alpha his chest armor away and run out.
I also really like 2 ER large lasers, and srm 4+6s. no ecm, but you can brawl with the big boys.

My ECM fox uses something similar (upping the ERMLas to MPLas in exchange for heat sinks, I wager). It is indeed awesome, but the point I'm trying to make is that it's awesome because it's a Kit Fox, not because it has ECM. The Kit Fox is just good, as long as you don't push a square peg into a round hole. The Kit Fox escorts the fatties and acts like a tiny, hard to hit medium. It is not a fast moving scout or lone ranger of any kind. You will get demolished.

Yup its like a little stubby medium in terms of firepower if you use anything other than the ecm/ams arm.

Wait, what?

Why would you ever do that?

This is the exact config I use with the Kitfox. It has been good to me, and results in lots of solid games. I've monkeyed around with UAC5's but never got the consistency I needed with a pure energy build. The MG's with 1/2 ton ammo are great for some late game crits, and are helpful when you want to lay down constant fire without overheating.

The only change I haven't decided on is whether to swap one of the DHS out for a TC1. The slight increase in range alone is a good reason for it, but some say the increased chance of crits helps the MGs a lot.

I am however starting to run with a 2x ERLL build since LPL and ERML have been hit with heat and distance nerfs. It's a very solid sniper platform.
