I am really in love with the 2 PPC, 1 Medium laser, build. I've change it a bit, just swapped the laser and one ppc. Set the ppcs to fire on their respective sides, and you get a ecm sniper like no other. You gotta stick with the fat mechs for a bit, just taking pot shots, but once they are engaged with another mech, you can just skip in, alpha his chest armor away and run out.
I also really like 2 ER large lasers, and srm 4+6s. no ecm, but you can brawl with the big boys.

Disagree on the MG comment.

2xmg on a KF works VERY well at crit seaking. It is also an amzing backup weapon when you are waiting for cooldown of your energy weapons.

I do agree highly about the escort funciton.

If you hate being an escort, the KF is not the mech for you. If you are a true scout light pilot, solo harasser, the KF is not the mech for you. Way too slow.


It can do fairly well sniping if you play that style, but it is so much better escorting the main group that I dont know why anyone would ever do anything else. (well maybe for leveling I suppose)

What do you think of this gauss build? You don't get any ECM but you are in a light using a gauss and a medium laser with full armor.

If you're not shooting at least 3 tons worth of Gauss on average (and it's unlikely to occur with that mech in the first place), it's not worth investing the tonnage for it.
