They might be a little hard to find, but I've still got all the books from the '80s-'90s. The "Star League" book is good backstory...tells how the Star League came about, the Amaris coup and Kerensky's exodus.
Then you've got the actual sourcebooks...Clan Wolf, Clan Jade Falcon, The Invading Clans, The Crusader Clans....those all give pretty good history of each clan, more or less, from the time of the Exodus to the Invasion. Pretty good reading.
The majority of the books I read were the ones written from the late '90s to the early '00s. When I was in Afghanistan in '02 a lot of people were donating stuff to us and eventually so many books were donated our FOB made a little makeshift "library tent" and someone donated a very large number of the contemporary BT books of the time.
I read all that were there whenever there was downtime which was mostly when we got our turn for "perimeter guard" so had a 4 on/4 off schedule wihtout having to be available for QRF or details. Most were FedCom Civil War stuff and a few were post-3052 clan stories but I enjoyed them all. I had seen MW4 Vengeance at a friends house but his computer wasn't powerful enough to run it at the time so we couldn't play it really. The books really got me interested in MW4 so one of the first purchases I would make after getting back was a good computer and all the MW4 games, expansions, packs, etc. I love the clans and their lore and am really only interested in playing as them (blame MW2 being my intro to the franchise) but I do enjoy the Davion family story as well. I always side with them in MW4 Mercenaries.
I remember the "Codes and Procedures of the Warrior Caste" MW2 instruction manual being pretty cool and detailed with quotes from The Remembrance and Kerensky throughout. I've been scanning amazon lately for some older BT books and TROs and maybe I'll see if I can dig one of those up as well.
So basically due to the games and BT literature I've been exposed to 3049-3067 is really it for me. I don't care for what comes after as it all sounds rather silly but with all the praise I hear for the earlier timeline stuff I think it definitely warrants a look.
