Just start checking through the list here:

http://www.masteruni...o=&FactionAuto=

That is a pretty accurate list of what mechs were built up to 3050 barring some of the wierd prototype and experimental stuff. You can poke through there and at least find out which mechs don't have more than two variants, but it isn't obvious which variants would be identical in MWO, so it still would take some extra cross-referencing with Sarna or some sourcebooks. It also treats special 'named' versions as a separate variant, so keep that in mind.

Some of the ones I remember being problematic at 3050, off the top of my head:

Axman
Hatchetman
Panther
Pillager
Javelin
Woodsman
Talon
Thug (Has 3 variants, but all would be identical in MWO)
Lynx
Dervish

I know there are more, and I'm not even thinking about the mechs with only a single variant.

Yea I know...no melee :(.

Still, if the axe could be resigned into more of a "shield-like" shape, it could be useful at least.

Question is, how would you design an axe to perform like s shield, but still look like an axe...hmmm.

They are all pretty much the same though.... All energy heavy. Would take creative license to make varied loadouts.

They always take creative license with the hard points.

Wait, I got another one!

After doing strenuous exercising, Star Scream throws out his back and is stuck half transformed. Poor guy, trying to wave down Barricade and he just ignores him.

This is why I like the 3025-3049 era the best. Mechs that look good and make sense (for the most part).

2N: 2 LRM15, 3ML, LPL, silly huge axe

Hardpoints?

Love this thread. Please remember to only discuss mechs that DO NOT have 3 Variants available in 3050. This thread is for discussing only those mechs which DO NOT have three variants, and for proposing additional variants to round them out. Any other mech discussion should be done in Odanan's thread(link in OP).

Cheers!

HMH-3D: 2B 2E 1M xJJ (sarna didn't list how many)
HMH-4D: 2B 3E
(HMH-PC: 4B 2E 1M)? Probably more hero 'mech material

AXM-1N: 1B 4E
AXM-2N 2M 4E
Haven't seen any other possible variants for the axeman so far.

Wolfhound actually has three, but they are so close to identical it is lumped into two. WLF-1 has one of the CT Medium Lasers rear facing, WLF-1A removes the same laser for a heat sink, and WLF-1B takes the same laser and faces it forward. For MWO purposes the WLF-1 and 1B are the same.

I think the Caesar can simply be introduced as a variant of the Cataphract.

You can build an exact duplicate of the Caesar on the CTF-1X. My 1X is called Caesar for that reason.

Devastator should be on that list. Two variants by 3048. As well as the Firefly and Chameleon.

The Hammerhands should not be there because it is extinct.
