So awhile ago, just after the first Lurmpocolypse, I took an 8 month break from MWO.
I did this because I was getting tired of attempting to maintain my K/D ratio (at the time it was 10:1, and YES it was because I was slinging LRMs like they were going out of style).
After a few days off, I felt that I could just sit on my K/D - as any time I returned to the game, I would have to down 10 people before not having the pressure of maintaining the ratio. Also, I couldn't play many other mechs than my Atlas - as (at the time, there wasn't much of a selection) playing any of the other available mechs posed a huge threat to my K/D.
Anyway, that's the point that I found MWO not fun - I dreaded logging on and playing because it would chip away at my accomplishment.
8 Months later, I came back to MWO and the game was entirely different. ECM had dropped into the game, the LRMs were toned way down etc. - But I made a decision: that I was going to have fun.
Since that point, I no longer attempt to live no matter what, and I get to play all of the variable chassis that exist in the game, using builds that are beyond the few that are the most 'meta'. Ever since I played MWO to have fun, I have had fun. When I treated it like a job - that's when it lost the magic.
