How Do Omni-Pods Work In Mwo?

from what i have read on these forums the omni mechs are Omni in name only? how do the omni pods work in mwo, i have tried to find a guide but havent found one.

you take a section - ballistic arm or ballistic torso as an example... and swap it with one that carries missiles or electronics and AMS or Lasers etc.

An IS Chassis has fixed hardpoints for mounting weapons and equipment and to get a different selection of hardpoints you need a different machine.

Clan Chassis only need a piece from another chassis to change hardpoints.

Thats how the omnipods work. You basically create frankensteins

Assuming another chassis exists that has those hardpoints in that area.

Correct. But the intent is there and the sections DO work as omni pods.

Right.

But just in case someone reads this and then goes and buys them, then learns the limitations the hard way. They probably won't care about the intent.

Good point. To add to my first post then, when you are in mechlab and want a different omnipod, when you mouse over them they will bring up the hardpoint types and numbers that section can have.

So you cant fit ANY hardpoints, you can just choose from the 3 or 4 on offer in the omnipod section of the lab. Its still better than what the IS machines can do.
