Or maybe...MASC needs to do something completely different than what it does in TT. At this point, it's probably a better plan of attack than flailing miserably against a likey unsolvable engineering issue. Just some food for thought.

In my mind the alt solution is that it enhances agility. While active it provides a 100% increase in acceleration, deacceleration, jump landing speed and turn speed. While active the user sees a bar that fills up indicating the increased chance of catastrophic failure damage (5% per second max). When the bar reaches the top the mech seizes and shuts down until restarted, with some internal leg damage the result (maybe bring back falling down just for this outcome?). This makes it skill based to a degree while incorporating the random nature of the tech.
