Had a fairly good run for the past few weeks. Was around 121/80 w/l but for the past 3 days have had a nosedive in w/l and am now 123/110. This is almost purely 2 man group drops btw. Couldn't for the life of me imagine why one day the matches were fairly even, but the next I am like 3-30. It was such a substantial jarring loss rate and the teams I was paired up were with scattered and incoherent groups of 2-3 compared to the 6+ man premades I fought 3/4 games. But that's a different story altogether, as it was never a problem before this random loss streak happened.

So I tried figuring out what was going on, and that perhaps it was because I primarily dropped as an assault that I was not going to be team up with any real teams anymore because of the whole DWF cbill situation. So I tried switching to a lower weight chassis and it barely made a difference... except the teams were horribly, HORRIBLY balanced.

I thought there was some form of a 3/3/3/3 system or chassis matching system in place, but then this gem of a game happened.

I can't help but see a... well.. slight difference in weight classes for each side. I thought if perhaps I didn't drop as an assault, we would get more groups with their own assault players... Guess not... It's never fully balanced but this is a tad bit extreme...

All I can say is... lots of the players that would normally be IN the group queue are playing in the tourney... because of glory, e-peen, and the almighty c-bills.

I apologize in advance if that has affected your group queue experience. It'll be normal once patch day arrives.

Eh, its been pretty awkward for a few days before the tourney even started. But like I said, that was just the backstory to this whole situation. It was the chassis balance between teams that I posted for.

Considering that the great match I had in the Spider was vs a Dire Whale that was nearing death... and I overheated twice no-less in front of his face.. I still managed to kill it in the final blow (while being legged).

It was a great game... for me. I don't think I've ever trolled so hard.

Heh, the winning team had a 240 tonne advantage, or the losing team only had 74% of the winning teams weight. With matching like that the matchmaker should start to allow asymmetrical team sizes. I mean, the winning team could have been fun to face if the losers got one extra lance of mechs (which would be around 240 tonnes), but with the set 12 vs 12 stuff like this just sucks.

I would prefer different team sizes to be honest. Playing lights would bring the additional benefit of numbers, mediums could become the workhorse size mechs since they are a good compromise between power and weight and so on. Then Clan mech could well be a bit better than IS, but for matchmaking they would just get a multiplier on their tones (So a TW counts as around a 85 tonner for match-making purposes for example).

Oh well.

The OP's point was that the MM had stuffed one team full of DWFs but declined to offer a similar boost to the other team. It's a MM problem.

Yea when the match dropped I thought "wow, this is gonna be a very light tonnage match". Welp.

its not a gem, it is as common as dirt.
i constantly go up against 4 assaults and 4 heavies. match maker just gives up.

they really should consider weight balancing instead of class. this way the community play whatever they want and the teams can be balance in armour and firepower.... ish well better then fail 3333.

I think the only way you get something that bad is if the queue starvation is really really terrible. I haven't seen a 5 assaults v 1 assault match since before the matchmaker was changed. I think that one of the other posters must be correct ... a lot of the group players are playing in the solo queue for the tournament. The 500k cbill bonus is extremely enticing.

Yes, and the underlying reason MM had the extra trouble? Event/Tournament/Challenge Weekend. And the solo queue is even uglier. Much epeen, much solo rambo glory hogging.

yesterday was really odd...

.....ON TOP of the guys that just finished, or are still working on, their first 25 matches. Oh, it's such a mess right now. On the bright side, I haven't laughed this hard in a LONG time.

Dude, it's "Daishi Weekend" again.....except, this time, the object is to KEEP FIRING when some moron walks in front of you. Dude, you can only be held responsible for so much. Once the Whale gets it's fight on, if you're stupid to walk directly in front of it....friendly OR enemy....you get EXACTLY what you deserve. There's a reason infantry guys crawl under machinegun fire....not walk through it.
