I've never really looked at mech speeds before but i thought that with a stock engine they had the speed indicated on Sarna, either before or after speed tweak.
Then i used the Dire Wolf, which (with speed tweak) has a speed of 53.5kph, yet according to Sarna should be 54kph.

Are MWO speeds not supposed to match those listed in Sarna?

Tabletop uses rounded speeds for some mechs. The reason for this is that TT hates decimals, and the way they calculated the speeds. What you did was take your walking movement points and then multiply it by 1.5 to find out your running movement points. So, a mech with 4 walking MP would have 6 running MP.

In the case of the Dire Whale, it has 3 walking MP but its running MP would be 4.5...but Tabletop doesn't let you run half of a hex. They needed whole numbers, so they rounded it up to 5 running MP. This also occurs for every mech that has an odd number for its walking MP in TT (i.e. 3/5, 5/8, 7/11, etc.).

However, MWO is a real-time game, so you can move half of a "hex" here without any issues. MWO doesn't hate decimals. Therefore, mechs which benefited from rounding in TT don't get rounded in MWO.

Remember, PGI had globally nerfed the movespeed of all mechs, at least once.

Imo mechs move too fast now (except the Atlas and Dire Wolf...they are soooo slow). I'd like to see all mechs with fixed stock engines, or lesser range of changeable engines.

Lesser max engine value for IS mechs is more flexible of the two, but won't that create a situation where certain Clan mechs (specifically the T-Wolf) are going to be absurdly mobile in comparison?

I suppose PGI would just nerf clan mechs even more.

53.5 would traditionally be rounded to 54 lol
