Yeah, it's true: Russ said so on Twitter: "A tid bit for twitter you guys can spread- the Centurion will get its mechlab retrofit Oct 21st when new Centurion reward mech is released."
As an old Cent pilot, I'm scared. Very scared:

But it looks lame with an UAC5/AC2

To be fair, most of the weapon geometry looks pretty awesome, its really only the missile Cats that suffered.

To be fair, that's very debatable. The poor felines are just the most egregious example of a very, very poorly implemented system.
See this thread for some more examples of the kinds of horrors that have been visited upon us.

Huh? Even in that thread, there's not many examples outside of the Cat's of really bad looking mechs. I get the distaste for the BLR style box launchers, mind you, but they've unfortunately become What Some IS Launchers Look Like.
Not to say the system is perfect. I still feel that having Small Lasers and Large Pulse Lasers look identical is ridiculous, for example. Large and Large Pulses should have different models from the small energy weapons, IMHO.

You forgot the Hunchback-4G.
The 4G is also an older implementation. Newer than the Cat, admittedly, but they've generally speaking gotten better as time progresses.
And the problems with the 4G are largely due to hardpoint inflation: That hunch wasn't designed to hold three weapons, and weapon changes can't change the base geometry of the mech: It can only add objects, not remove/alter them. The other Hunchbacks look pretty decent, and I'd argue that multi-ballistic builds aside, even the 4G generally looks better after the change than before.
At least now, you can get a good idea of what the HBK is packing by glancing at it.

Remember the Hellbuilding? Yeah. Wasn't just the Catapults.
I assume you mean the Hellsinger? Sorry, I get lost with the random names people use. It's launchers are sort of unfortunate when you're packing 3xSSRM2, but at least they're consistent with BLR missile launchers.

It's sheer ugly. I get the hardpoint problem, but you'd have to find a semi-elegent way of representing it, instead of the weapon model essentially "pasted" through the model.

Not true. Have you ever seen the HBK 4J or 4SP without missiles? No hunch!

Cat A1=Bad (Made ridiculously huge missile pods, NERF)
Raven 3L=Good (Made the second missile hardpoint actually useful for something other than NARC, BUFF)
Really it is anyone's guess. As it stands, I can't think of a way the pass could improve any chassis like it did the Raven 3L, but I really can't think of a way it would hurt it either. We just need to see I suppose.
