To compensate for the flood of heavies and assaults in tourneys like this, and to make it easier for light and medium pilots to get the 550k Cbill bonuses, PGI should figure out a way to give the pilots bonuses for causing the enemy to hit teammates with friendly fire.

I was just in a match where we won 12-3, and 2 of our deaths were the direct result of a Raven running in and out of the horde at the end of the match, with predictable mass friendly derp-fire results.

That guy should have gotten kill credits for that, and boosts to his score from the rest of the damage scored.

There's bound to be a way to set it up so that any light or medium within 200 meters of an enemy gets credit for any friendly fire done to that enemy. And if there isn't a way, there should be. It might help make up for the pain of having to navigate through a mountain of trigger happy heavies and assaults tripping all over each other for kills.

:P

yeah, there's no way to tell what shot was meant to hit you when it hits somebody else, so this would never work.

That type of system would be next to impossible to implement.

They already do get a bonus: enemies shooting each other.

In theory, you could credit everyone on the other team with an assist from a team kill.

That's about the best you could do.

And oh god, would that ever be exploited in these tournaments. Wow.

This would make IS lights the de facto troll 'Mechs for tourneys.

If convergence was tied to target lock range data, then heavier mechs would inevitably seek to lock fast mechs in order to shoot. If a light is targeted by an enemy mech and that mech fires on a friendly, then perhaps the game could credit that damage to the fast mech.

Though, this would provide ECM lights/fast mechs with yet another perk...no lock would mean no ability to converge on target...oops.

You should at least get a bonus for LRMs that are locked onto you hitting an enemy instead. That one should be pretty easy to track, and it comes up sort-of often (i.e. enemy spots you, LRMs come from over a hill, you get close to the enemy on the opposing side of the LRMs).
