sl and b variants were only deployed by the Star League Defense Force and SLDF Royal Divisions respectively. They are considered extinct at this point in the time line.

The Clans may still have some in their Toumans, but even the Comguards do not field them.

I really hope the Crab gets in sooner or later. The design itself is pretty unique and would give it a pretty low profile. Of course, knowing PGI, they will probably make it huge for whatever reason.

Russ said in the Town Hall meeting that the next IS pack Medium and Light choices were 'a no brainier' or something to that effect. Crab as the medium makes a lot of sense.

We've pretty much run out of decent mediums. The Assassin will be in the poll with a bunch of trash mechs (Clint? Enforcer?), making it the "no brainer" he foresees.

The Phoenix Hawk would be a no brainer.

There isn't going to be a poll for the light or mediums. The decision on them is already made. The assassin is out because it doesn't have the requisite time line appropriate number of variants. The Crab really doesn't have much difference between two of the time line correct variants either though. Dervish might be another option though. There isn't much left in the TRO 3050 with enough variants.

Phoenix Hawk is unseen - so it's a lawsuit with HG. Certainly a no-brainer to not include it.

Most of the "no brainer" 'Mechs left in the timeline are in the 40 ton range. There are actually some good 'Mechs in there. Everything else, including the Crab, Enforcer, and Dervish does not have enough variants. Same reason we won't see the Merlin (3058 TRO, but developed in 3010). As I said above the "b" and "sl" variants have so far been off limits. It hurts some of the 'Mechs we could see, but makes sense from a lore standpoint.

The big thing everyone is missing- if we get a King Crab, we better get a normal one too!

And a legal nightmare (see also Unseen, Harmony Gold) with the potential to end the game outright.

I thought the model style was 'similar' between the crab and the king crab (not surprisingly)

So maybe they could use some hidden assets to do the crab.

That said I would LOVE the assassin!

So either of those would be a win for me! :)

The Crab and the Bushwacker both have great potential for hitboxes, with their low-slung profiles.

I fully expect the Crab to show up in some kind of ComGuard pack, and the Bushwacker as an Invasion Response pack.

except unseen mech's are already in the game.. HG doesn't have claim to it anymore.

Wolverine, Griffin, Shadow hawk, Thunderbolt, & Battlemaster..

You need to learn yourself some history.

Well as Russ and PGI decided to go the route of letting us rewrite history i guess it would not be completely out of range to introduce some non-canon mech variants.

Extinct doesn't seem to be a reason for PGI to not include variants... heck the whole Highlander chassis is supposed to be ultra rare.

A little boring, honestly, though visually, Alex has done some nice concepts. I'm good with or without.
