For some reason, I can't quote other people's posts, Also if I try to post an image, the widget locks up once I confirm my selection. Happens in IE 11

Greetings,

You should be able to just use the "["img]" and "["/img]" (remove all the quotes, inside and out) brackets and paste the linked image between them. Although the image should be from a stored area and not double linked. ( the [ and img and ] wouldn't display if I placed then normally)

Also ensure that before you are going to reply to something you "refresh" the page as MWO has a habit of logging users out while they are composing reply's. Depending on the image size it may take a few seconds/min. to download and show displayed. The image type also matters.

The small "switch" icon in the upper left of the reply posting box is what I need to use/select to be able to create paragraphs and other formatting inserts. And have to switch back to the default mode for other selections, real pain.

Yep. IE 11 with Win7. Not surprising, since they changed some stuff around in IE 11.

Workarounds:

Quoting works if you switch to the other editing mode (top left button in post window) and then click the Quote button like you normally would. I assume MultiQuote works the same.

You should be able to use the [ img] [ /img] tags (without the spaces) to have an image appear. You don't need a button for that.

There we go!

Also note that you cannot paste anything into the window in the standard edit mode with IE 11. You have to be in the alternate edit mode for the paste to happen.

My recommendation: Use a different browser. FireFox, Chrome, and Opera work just fine with the forums -- I know, I have them all installed to avoid problems like this.

The "[img]" method does indeed work. It is useful to paste the image link form something like notepad but omitting the http: part of the name or the forum treats it like an active link. The missing prefix can be added by hand after it has copied into the editor window.

I've tried everything mentioned in this thread to quote or post an image to no avail. I'm running windows 7 and IE 11. And yes, I've cleared the cache, cookies, closed browser, even rebooted and still no joy. This forum is the only forum I've found that I cannot post images or quote posts. I'm also an admin on 2x vBulletin boards, I know my way around forums.

Not only can I not post or quote, but if I type fast this forum will not keep up with that........ I have a suggestion, place your forums on a separate server......... the lag is also affecting this forum.
