I'm just wondering what the general mentality is behind locking the camo spec for the hero and prime variants? It would seem to me that, because of the cbill boost that these chassis get, people drive these versions a lot and it would drive people to buy more camo patterns if they were usable on these variants. Granted, I understand a bit more how the hero variants might preserve a distinct look, but the clan primes just basically have a single stripe and a whole lot of area that can't even be colored.

I'm not exactly complaining, mind you. I just wonder why PGI decided arbitrarily to not allow players to spend money on those variants.

Because the concept of leaving the unique geometry which is simply 'tacked on' to an existing mech without a changing paint scheme/pattern while recycling the the regular patterns on regular mechs is completely lost on PGI.

I could understand if a heromech was truly unique like the arms and legs are completely unrecognizable... but with the exception of the Invasion mechs this isn't the case.

Better question: Why can't I use my Hero Colours on other Mechs?

I already paid for the colours.

I think what would be nice is A few alternate Camo's for Hero's. Like, three variants or something? They need to be easily identifiable, yes, but we can do that.

Well, I can understand why they might want you to buy the colors again. I may not agree with it, but I understand why. What I really don't understand is that they're voluntarily and intentionally refusing money that players might be willing to give them to customize more fully the mechs they use more often. It doesn't make sense from a business standpoint.

I'm pretty annoyed with this too.. at least as far as the prime clan mechs are concerned...

Yep. I think the default Firestarter camo is FAR superior to the Ember's pattern and if given the choice I would switch to it in a heart beat.

The answer to the question is "artistic vision", despite the fact that profits should be the overriding factor for such an oversight.

Yeah, this is definitely a no brainier from a business standpoint.

I want those nice camo patterns for my Clan Primes!

Im more ticked about the locked colors. There's absolutely no reason I should be forced to run bland grey tertiary on all prime variants. Same for that ugly blue on the Ember.

This so much. Default FS camo is one of the coolest ingame imo.

Their inability to offer map specific camo is likewise a missed opportunity. I mean they could have players buying multiple camos per variant.

They could also implement the sensor range idea and give people a reason to even bother with camo. All the heroes I have are painted solid because the motocross graphics look ridiculous

It's sad to see them leaving money on the table like this. I would buy a new camo for all of my heroes and primes (except the jester, I love that pattern).

It makes sense for the Hero mechs as these are supposed to be unique and immediately recognizable on sight; however it makes little sense for prime variants to be locked.

I probably wouldn't care about prime variants so much if their camo patterns weren't so blasé in appearance. But because they are basically "generic" looking it would be nice to be able to customize them.

More than anything I want to use the other two color channels on my Death Knell. Using other camo patterns would be nice too, but seriously only one changable color? Sad face :(

I'd also like to see the hero skins available for other variants of the same chassis. I can see the reasons for not doing it, but I really want to use the X-5 skin on all of my Cicadas.

I would expect the reason would lie more with the mechs having a c-bill bonus, and only being available for real money, rather than mere neglect on their part.

How so? Given a choice between the cbill incentive and a desire to run a specific camo pattern, I think most players will choose the former. So why not allow those players to pay to truly customize the mechs that they like running? It just seems like a baffling and arbitrary decision. If camo patterns were cbill costed it would be one thing, but restricting a player's ability to pay to customize? That just doesn't make sense to me.

Unchangeable pattern for hero mechs is making sense.

But what about the "Invasion" variants of clan mechs?
We get cool pattern but can't use them on Prime (I) versions...? Me no like. And there is no logical explanation as for Heroes.

Especially as the patterns coming with Wave 2 are really cool.... I want them on my C-Bill-Boosters!
