Hey i have a question :

Does anyone has try the SHD-2K as a LRM boat? I was thinking to something like that :
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c25324483449766

I think i will buy the two other variants of the Shawk with the sale (the 2D and the 2K) but i don't know what loadout i will run on them...

Thanks for your opinions =)

I don't, those three high energy mounts are too juicy to waste.

After the pads I may retool a few of them, though my 2K will remain an energy sniper.

I actually use my Wolverine with a similar build: WVR-7K LRM
Not as much ammo, but I find 24 shots of 30 does well enough.

If I were doing a Shadowhawk I'd probably do this for LRMs: SHD-2K ALRMs
That build has 3MLs but I could see dropping to 2ML and 1TAG to self tag.

I'm just not a fan of boating LRMs on mediums usually. There are a couple exceptions though. I haven't played a KTO or a TBT yet but them seem made for LRMs with the number of tubs per hard point. The GRF is another. I use this build with my GRF. That's an older build that I haven't used in a while. I also have a GRF-3M that I load up with 4 LRM5s.

I'd spring for Artemis, although I have found it to be not as helpful with LRM10s. 15s and 20s it make a huge difference from what I can tell.

I've found it makes more a difference with the lock-on times than the spread.
Also haven't noticed much of a difference between LoS lock-speed with Artemis and non-LoS speeds.

Big killer more than the cost though is the tonnage lost

I think you don't have enough ammos on all of this builds; I run 1ton of lrm for 5 tubes launcher. 3xLRM10 = minimum 6 tons for me. Maybe it's too much, but when i was running my KTO-GB 5xLRM5, i was using 6-7 tons of ammos (more than usual) and it's happen often when i run dry of ammo.

Thanks for the sharing of your builds, i have a Wolvie variant, i can try your build with that mech =)

The Griffin look to be the best for boating larger LRMs launchers... I should consider this one too after the new ShadowHawk =)

LRM Shadowhawk I'd build like this: SHD-2K

But it's really more suited to be ASRM6x3 brawler IMO.

My most successful Shadowhawk so far is this 2D2 build: SHD-2D2
This match was yesterday for example, I'm quite new so that is still a really good score for me.

Is this a terrible loadout? I'm tempted to get it

If you mean you are tempted to buy the 5M variant I advice against it, I regret buying it as it doesn't really offer any unique opportunities and the 275 is a subpar XL engine (280 has same weight). I sold my 5M once I realized I could do every build better on another variant. The whole venture ended up wasting a lot of my hard earned cbills.

If you already have the 5M I don't see anything wrong with the build.

I agree with all above. Buying a separate XL280 is a better deal in the long run.

Well it comes with a 275 so I figured the upgrade wasn't worth it :P I guess I could get the 2H instead(the only other SHD that can run 2+ Balistics unless I'm blind) I'd lose a medlas for nothing though...

I cannot disagree with that. I am not a big LRM player. I use my Battlemaster to boat them normally. I usually have 7-8 tons of ammo on that for 45 tubes. But on my mediums I usually try to have between 20-30 total shots, and I have 24 (720/30) on those builds. When using LRMs on my mediums I have found taking much more than that I tend to have a bunch of ammo left at the end of the match. Usually because the brawl starts and I get caught up in it instead of using my speed to re-position to range. Also one of the reasons on my medium mechs that I don't self tag and take the extra medium laser (in most cases).

Agreed, I use my Griffins and Shadowhawks as ASRM6 or just SRM brawlers. I am most effective with those.

I'm coping this from another thread where DragonZur has the formula for which Shadowhawks to get: Link to Thread
The formula:
(5M or 2H) + (2D or 2D2) + 2K
I prefer the 2H, 2D and the 2K myself, but I own all five of them and play them all. That said do not let engine rating be a deciding factor on purchasing a Shadowhawk. Sure if you don't have that many CBills the XL275 can be swapped between them, but sooner or later you will want to spring for an XL280 for all of your builds that use an XL275. Also I found that in most of my Shadowhawk builds I use one of the following engines: STD 260, XL280, XL300, XL320, XL330. So unless you have other mechs that came with these engines you will be spending some extra CBills.

And keep in mind that the best AC20 builds for the 2D or 2D2 can be duplicated on the 5M. 5M may even be better than the 2D2 because the 2 Energy Hard Points are in the same arm.
