Most Disliked Map And Why?

The middle ring is too enticing for most groups and ends up being a frustrating experience. People lag behind and never enter the caldera while their teammates get smacked down by the team that didn't wait to enter.
If people were smarter and flanked around the caldera then it might not be so bad, but that is a rare occurrence indeed.
Also Canyon Network, I have some great matches here but there are others with "massive" movement profile mechs that suck hard. There are only so many places a big assault mech can get up out of the canyon, and these spot are watched like a hawk. JJ mechs, its a blast.. LRMS. yes please.... an assault on canyon.... hells no.

I'm surprised all the folks that hate Mining Collective though, I love that map.

Terra Therma requires some massive cat herding, but it can be very fruitful if you do (reverse slope defense the bridge entrance, lure enemy team out of caldera accross the bridge...victory!, etc etc).
Canyon is hit or miss. if you selected a mobile, or JJ capable mech, it can be fun. If you selected the King crab...well...hope the fight comes to you?

*Raises a hand* I did.. I voted for it. I can't stand that stupid arse crystal terrain that is unpolished as hell and makes any side movement, ridge sniping or climbing all but impossible for anything but high weapon mounted mechs.

LOL! Don't take that away, it's the only thing LRMs are even somewhat decent on any more. I will admit I have pended up looping "Drop it" while playing in a Mad Dog on that map though as I had silly stupid fun.

Hardly OP, you'll find very few who subscribe to that, it's cause 6 LRM 5s are as amazing as it gets... if someone has AMS.. then you're boned.
AMS, EMC, the Radar Derp Modual.. all of those keep LRMs from being much use at all in the long run other then a suppression tactic.

1ams is useless when u fire all of them at once
and lrms are just psychological weapons... u just make dires and kingcraps cry

I did "attack" your message, because you are 100% wrong. and that 100% wrong message was said in a very arrogant manner for no reason at all. If you don't like being called out for being wrong and arrogant, then don't be wrong and arrogant.
Considering I said "I have found..." it's more a remark of my own experiences, so I don't see how it can be "100% wrong"
Maybe you've had different experiences, but there are maps with way worse hit boxes and terrain, the design is terrible yes, but a major gripe in MWO is heat and hot maps and all this and that.
Had I said "Everybody who hates TT is bad" that would have been another story.
You wouldn't be getting this upset or stuck on my message if it didn't offend you, maybe you know how to manage your heat, maybe you don't, but I'm talking about seeing people d/c because we dropped in a hot map is ridiculous.
I understand nobody likes it, but a lot of people who talk about TT and other hot maps make it out to be worse than it really is.
I'm not "100%" wrong and I'm not being arrogant, I've just seen enough people complain about stupid things that at a certain point I can't take them seriously.

But you wanna know the real reasons? There are two. I don't ever remember to look at the Enemy paper doll, I don't I hardly ever remember to look at what is weak, what is cored or the like.. just use to not getting meaningful locks or the like.
And the other reason.. that effects both my lasting ability and attacking my enemy? Ready for this? I'm color blind, that paper doll don't tell me crap when the colors all look the freaken same to me. Oh look.. its my paper doll.. it looks the same on all sides (the fact the maps background colors mess with its colors also doesn't help) .. oh look..its the enemy paper doll.. unless its bright red or such..it all looks the same to me.
So if you want to know why I tend to suck, that is why. Remember the bar graphs for the users and enemies body parts? That would solve so much for me.
But no, you keep believing I suck cause I can't pathfind or manage my pew pews.
color blindness has nothing to with you getting so mad about what I said.
Maybe next time instead of getting mad because of something someone said explain why 'X' bothers you instead of assuming everyone knows you're color blind.
I made a remark about heat, you took offense to it, was I supposed to know you're color blind or something?
Why else would you reply to my comment?
"oh because it's snobby"
Sorry something on the internet bothered you, it's a mean place.
You suck because your colorblind, you've established that.
Maybe you should have said your issue with TT is that you're color blind and can't see instead of taking offense to a remark about heat.

For me it would be Mining Collective, as I get an unplayable framerate on that map (I'm assuming because of the pretty flames). If I had a second vote, it'd go to either of the Forest Colony variants, as I find matches on that map to be fairly one dimensional.
I kindly ask that you consider your vote and the reasons behind it before peeking at the tally below. I'd like to send this thread off to Russ and/or the lead map designer for when they consider reviewing, revisiting, and updating old maps, which is something they've expressed interest in doing.
_____________________________________________
Here is the tally so far:
Terra Therma: 41 votes: boring tactics, hot, bland graphics.
River City(s): 38 votes: poor visibility (night), poor spawns, small size.
Alpine Peaks: 27 votes: lack of cover, large size (suggested: add tunnel)
Forest Colony(s): 19 votes: small size, bland graphics.
Caustic Valley: 13 votes: lack of cover, bland graphics.
Frozen City: 13 votes: framerate, visibility.
Viridian Bog: 10 votes: invincible trees, hard to navigate roots/getting stuck
Mining Collective: 9 votes: framerate, crashes, boring tactics.
HPG Manifold: 5 votes. Geometry.
Canyon Network: 3 votes.
Crimson Strait: 1 vote: crashes
Tourmaline Desert: 0 votes.
(last updated: post #183)
I don't ever want to see map votes or block lists made available, nor would I ever use them. That being said if someone put a gun to my head and said pick it would probably be Alpine Peaks.
I just don't get the hate for Terra Therma. I mean come on two of the main complaints listed for it are because it is hot and has bland graphics, and yet Tourmaline has no votes when it is hotter and has less of a color pallet than just about everything else??? I understand that opinions will vary on such things because it is completely subjective, but sometimes I really think people are jumping on the hate train for the sake of being part of a group. At least I can take solace in the fact that awhile back when someone created a poll asking if Terra Therma should be removed from the game the yes votes were trounced by the no votes.

If you mean Table Top, Then no.. i had no issues with that. if you mean Terra Therma.. I have issues with it because of the bad land, boring set up, dull tactics always used and the fact no one uses more then 10 percent of the map.
My color blindness doesn't just magically disappear on the other maps there. Are you freaken serious right now? You have SO many points going over your head.

You were the only who mentioned table top...
Points were going over your head actually.
And yep, you're right, I totally believe your colorblindness only effects this one map
