Don't know if this is a known bug, but I just purchased the CTF-3D(C).
I'm looking at the Right Arm, and clearly you can see (picture below) that there's a UAC5 model stuck right there, yet the mech's loadout has no UAC5 at all.

They have not yet done the art overpass on the Cataphract yet.

Or if they have I missed it.

In other words - the model does not update to show the accurate weaponry

Some of the older 'mechs have not yet been updated with visual weapon customizations. The CTF is one of those.

I always assumed that the updates to 'visual weapon customization' were just finite passes over the variable mech geometry to scale equipped weapon sizes appropriately (and other attributes) to match the mech they're being put on. IE. an AC/20 on a Blackjack doesn't look the same as an AC/2 etc etc...

I didn't know that this, is what was meant by 'visual weapon customization,' as I simply haven't come across this issue with any other mechs yet. (I'm new to the CTF)

Thanks for clearing it up gents, you've answered two queries with one stone. Guess I'll just patiently sit back with the rest and wait for the fixes to come in.

My Jagermechs have updated weapon customization visual meshes... If I place an AC2 and an AC5 on a single arm*, I can see the weapons change and can tell the difference. Only Jager to not have a full pass was the A, as it's missile hardpoints don't really change, so much as just have the tubes disappear with no missiles equipped to appearing (with unchanging tubes showing) with the default LRM 15 showing (which is rather minor in my book).

Edit*: Or if I place an UAC5 and 2 MGs, I can also see that difference. AKA: The weapons change and visually show what weapons are on the mech.

Jagermech was the first mech released with visual weapon customization. Every mech released afterwards had it by default.
The mechs released before are being gradually updated. As of now, those were redone: Catapult, Hunchback, Atlas, Jenner, Spider, Raven, Trebuchet.

There are currently 7 mechs without it: Commando, Centurion, Dragon, Awesome, Cicada, Cataphract, Stalker

Personally, I hope the Centurion will get a makeover with the release of CN9-AH variant on 21 October.

This has been confirmed. As a Centurion pilot, I am terrified.

Has there been an official word for it?

Yeah no geometry changes for weapons on the Pract. It is one of the oldest designs and they sort of forgot about it as time went on.

They have been updating the visuals whenever they release a Hero mech for the chassis. Since the Hero CTF is also one of the oldest, they haven't yet revisited the CTF chassis to update it.

Its a Faux Cannon. So people will shoot that dangerous looking gun arm off and you will still have your real guns. They did this to APCs in WWII. Stick a big pipe in the front and it would scare away real tanks...

The Highlander was the first mech with the feature. I remember this clearly. The time the Jager got its updated visuals was when the Firebrand debuted. This doesn't really contradict with the rest of the comment quoted either.. because the FB was not a missile build, thus didn't get the attention it should have gotten.

I don't think Dragons have a pass yet either.

I hope this gets looked at since the cataphracts are one of the best looking mechs in mwo!

The Jagermechs had the dynamic weapon models since their introduction. CPLT-K2 got the ballistic barrels in the same patch (http://mwomercs.com/...04-19-mar-2013/)

The only reason why I recall the Highlander was that PGI admitted this to everyone at the time.

I'd have to dig through some of the older AtD post about this.
