I wonder if anyone could shed some light on how PGI implemented the weapon swaps.

When you change weapons the mech models change accordingly, and it works well with the rig and animation stuff. Are all the weapon models in standardized sizes or do they have to make variants of the same weapon for different chassis? What are the potential pitfalls when doing this kind of model swaps?

PGI has a number of different sizes, but the weapon models are (mostly) the same.

What a PPC should be in size...

What it shouldn't be.

This is a model that has yet to be updated with weapon swapping visualizations.

But this is what an ER PPC should look like.

Then again Gauss Rifles are supposed to be pretty huge/long too.

I should note: A Kintaro is Smaller than a Shadowhawk. See this animated comparison. The Shadowhawk is the tallest 55 ton mech. The Wolverine is the shortest. The Kintaro is one of the 'middle grounds' in height. Warning: large file size.

Some mechs have an older version of weapon swap which were generally much more varied in appearance (I think Centurions still have some unique ballistic arm gemotries, subject to change with the new Cent coming Oct 21)

Other mechs have newer weapon swaps which is generally the same weapon model for all of the emchs, with a few different sizes (any many players regard these as poorly implemented, almost always too small, etc)
