Enforcer and Panther Special Geometry preview Announcement thread:

If you're struggling to find the special bits, you're not the only one. The 'special' geometry is ... more luggage racks. Community reaction to this kind of special geometry generally hasn't been positive (Locust cockpit bars, Shadow Hawk luggage racks). Speaking only for myself, I'd like to see something a lot more noticeable than a few extra bars.

Instead of luggage racks, I suggest:

Panther: Rounded shoulder panels instead of the squared-off ones.
Posted Image

Enforcer: Rounded LA laser extension instead of the square block. (More like the old TR arm)

Better ideas are welcome. What I'm really wishing for here is something more like the Founder or Phoenix geometry - a physical change to the 'mech that makes it immediately apparent that you're looking at the R version, not a standard. But at this point ... anything but barely visible luggage racks.

(and please fix the Enforcer's head)

I can ride my Panther with no handlebars.

Actually, I would be cool with simply getting rid of all the bulletholes.

I personally don't care as long as they keep that crap from blocking my view like the last pack. Windows are for seeing not bicycle racks.

Is this something that was shown at the Town Hall? Because it states somewhere in announcements / patch notes that they didn't finish the special geometry in time for release, and that it would come later. The current bullet holes paint just is simply placeholder until they can finish that.

Not part of the town hall, but came out the same day.

Where did you read that the 'bullet holes' (Resistance Skin) is a placeholder? I'd love for that to be correct, but I think this is actually the Resistance skin.

These are sneak peeks of the special geometry, linked in the OP.

Huh, I really like your mockups man. I'd certainly love to see it implemented as you have it there. Honestly... the bars look good on certain BattleMechs, like the Timber Wolf and even the Shadow Hawk IMO, but they just look a bit lazy there. :P

Wow, cool. I thought it was just the bullet holes.

As long as those special geometries are just some metal bars we have a good chance of seeing regular patterns on spacial variants at some point, and that is way more important to me than these 'special' geometries. But the Resistance pattern is actually pretty good, but still... Customisation is key to games that thrive on the whole collectible thing.

I hate those crappy tacked-on bars so much.

The bullet holes aren't geometry they are just skin, but I like them.

I do agree though " geometry " should be more than some chrome bar work, it should be alternative armour components like the AH left arm is.

I was hoping that special geometry would be more like enhanced fangs and ears and claws. I like the skin with bullet holes but if your going to give me luggage racks I want my warhorm mounted and some flood lights at least to give them purpose.

That's underwhelming... So far, the Locust is definitely the winner when it comes to "special geometry".

If they told us "Geometry on the Resistance 'mechs is limited because the 'R' models will accept the Faction Camo coming with full release" or "'R' models can accept camo schemes"then I'd accept the luggage racks happily.

I don't care what the special geometry is as long as it's visible on the mech in most situations. I'd venture to say most people buy the packages exactly for the unique look. they (we) want to feel special because they've shelled out. if the special mech looks p. much exactly the same as the regular c-bill variants, that feeling is gone.

I don't understand how the art team could come up with such amazing custom geometry for the (L) variants and then do such a half-arsed job with these.

thumbs down from me, PGI.
