Mind you, it's pretty much routine after a normal patch that something unintentionally breaks. It's normal, don't panic.

when people spectate me, it causes me to lag from 25 FPS to 5 FPS. but once i die, my FPS magically goes back up
That's interesting.
I can't imagine any reason for this to be happening. How do you know that people are spectating you when your FPS drops like that?

nice theory buddy ...but spectating has nothing with your client... but I have spare tin foil hat if you want..

i've had people giving me grief about my performance while they spectate me, and i reply, well yeah, because i'm in a sudden crippling slowdown that drops to 5 fps and sometimes down to 1.

well it's either spectating, or an issue with the desync protection

We are not important enough to receive a warning. PGI does this all the time.
>4 mech kill streak
>last mech left is a red leg spider
>jump onto a ridge
>hes there
>shoot
>notice my shots arent impacting
>everyone is walking in place
>great, did i lose my net?
>nope its just PGI taking servers down with no warning

Spectating uses data the server already gets from you and relays it to that person. They're not using your GPU to spectate, although I wouldn't put it past PGI given what we've seen so far. Also it's been clear for a while that the server does NOT prioritize a spectator, meaning if it has to it will reduce the proverbial bandwidth of info it feeds the spectator to make it seem like there's a desync or lag. Personally I've only seen a FPS drop near the end because FPS-reducing steam is emanating constantly from running my mech hot.

you are sending your input to server, server checks it, react accordingly and your client will play and show whatever is needed.
if someone is spectating you, THEIR client is just fetching your data from the server..not from you...and THEIR client has to manage, what they see on their monitors.. that's why you can see a bit different results when comparing live footage on your monitor and spectated projection of spectator.. however.. your client is not affected by people spectating you..
but desync fix could actually somehow affects your performance..but it's weird it doesn't affect me..

Just so you know, we called your mom's house and she said you we in the bathroom and not in the basement so we had to move on to notifying the next person on our MWO Call Tree...
She said she would put a post-it on your SpaghettiOs napkin for lunch.... guess that ***** is just being lazy again...
