Personal opinion only.

Could we re-visit the visuals on Forest Colony, it is very dark despite being the middle of the day.

I had something like this in mind.

Take Forest Colony from This.

Once in Forst Colony, an ECM Spider stood in front of me mere 20 meters away and I did not spot him until he opened fire.

The blue greyish ambience got to go away. :(

Go install SweetFX. These visuals are present everywhere in the game, not just Forest Colony.

Either in close beta, or just after, they had Forest Colony with no haze. The long range sniping wars were abysmal and unfun.

didn't matter back then if it was hazy or not, all you had to do was turn heat vision on and you could see someone anywhere on the map

Side note, I believe mine doesn't currently look so drab as the first picture, but I have a tendency to set brightness/gamma to high in order to be able to see clearly in even the darkest games. Haven't seen true black on my computer screen in years. Just a faded grey.

Is it still working? I'm going to re-install it as soon as I'm home.

Forest colony should have a more varied color palette because everything is too greenish and grayed out. The fog we currently have is a bit unrealistic too. The top right image is really nice imho.

Exactly, everything in this game is kinda greyish and everything blends into everything else.....its hard to spot mechs standing in front of buildings from any kind of distance, and heck, ive been staring right at mechs around corners and not known it till they moved..

LOL, I jacked brightness and gamma to max and notice absolutely 0 difference in either.....its like those settings dont even work in this game.

No reason to be snarky. Sweetfx is not the answer.

Indeed. Better to just have them improve in game visuals.

The problem with SweetFX (and similar tools like ENB) is thatits really only practical to get one color setting going, but as each map uses a very different pallette its extremely difficult to make them all look better. I find you get a couple looking awesome, and a couple looking like crap, no matter what you do.

Fun thought - at certain points of the year - the Kenai peninsula actually looks a lot like that upper image in the OP.

Having said that - I would support a shift to the lower image.

It would be great to get a tidbit from Russ on the subject, last I heard however PGI was not interested in changing the lightning of maps
