As much as I hate to admit it.

This isn't battletech, it's MWO

Meta is king.
Damage trumps nonsense crit mumbo jumbo
and the easy answer is ALWAYS better than long the complicated ones.

The damage buff is the easiest and most effective way to go. The extra damage is enough to make the weapons worth taking and allows them to shine as a brawling weapons where you get better damage for being closer. Who wants to be forced to get close range to do the same damage the regular AC's can do at range? No one.

So yeah extra damage is the Huckleberry.

That's why jamming enemy weapons, so be it lasers, AC or missiles would be so important. It would damage the enemy mech and on top it would do not allow him to return fire. That assumes that the effect takes places even if the location where shot lands is still armoured.

Lore friendly solution, like already said, increase damage.

The 10 is an effective rating, not its max damage. At the specified range some pellets will miss, say 3 out of 10. So increase damage so that even though some miss it still effectively does 10 damage.

Yes, this means under that range it may do more then 10 damage. This makes it a favorite for brawlers for up close punch. Isn't that what we want?

Faster RoF is another nice compromise. More damage downrange, but still ineffective damage....which is bad.

Better for brawling, though.

I'd also go with more ammo per ton, cause you certainly need a lot of it to punch through mech armor.

Lots of good ideas here.

LBX's, along with SRM's, should be excellent brawling weapons. They should be one of the best weapons in the game at those ranges, instead of their current state of still struggling to equal standard autocannons.

Up the damage, focus down the spread of them, etc. These things should HURT when you get close.
