If my mech starts getting hot to the point where I start steaming, and I catch a glimpse of that steam, my framerate drops like a rock to less than 10 for the duration. So standing still, and going in reverse just murder me if I start getting toasty.

I already tried reducing the particle effects down to medium setting (everything else is still set to very high) but it hasn't helped at all... I've even got my graphics card overclocked with EVGA Precision X. Just to check for conflicts, I've tried running without overclocking to the same results. Have all the latest drivers.

This has actually been a problem for a very long time for me, but I don't usually run hot mechs, so it doesn't impact me as much as it might...

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
Intel® Core™ i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.7GHz
16GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570

Alright, maybe I should have done a little more reading before posting this... Seems that MWO is very CPU heavy...

My CPU doesn't go above 50%, but almost all of the work seems to be being done by my first core, it's not spread out very much.

My RAM doesn't even get touched :P Using about 30-40% max.

I guess I'll see about overclocking my CPU, and see if that helps at all...

Here's a quick screen cap of my system usage over the course of a match:

MWO does particles terribly. They're mega - inefficient, no matter how good your computer is. Turn them to low and the problem almost disapeers.

Well, that was a fun crash course.... Never overclocked a CPU before... but, I'm now running stable at 4.3 GHz.... neat! :3

Aaand, still have the horrible nightmarish graphical lag in the overheat smoke...

I'll try turning it down to low, and see how it goes... Never had a problem with any other game before...

Holy dear sweet mother of improvement Batman! O_O I don't think my framerate dropped below 50 the entire match XD Wow!

I miss all the nuance of smoke... but.... it's not worth the graphical lag that comes with it.

Thanks for the simple fix! :D
