Acceptable.

Doesn't have the same Swoosh as 80 missiles, though.

Yea, but at least it can't be done better by a Stalker or something similar.
Though, come to think of it, a Misery with 2 PPCs and a Heavy Gauss would be funny.

The prototype already exists, though it's got all sorts of flaws.
The mass production models appear in 3053.

straight up no one wants to wait 6+ years for new weapons to come out and likely this game wont be around anymore at that point anyway.

so just toss the frickin timeline and add more weapons already otherwise we will have nothing to look forward to for at least 4 more years.

Balance all the current weapons first, then add new ones. That way, we'll have a baseline of perfectly balanced weapons to judge the new ones by. As it is, they should not have introduced Clan tech before balancing IS tech, but IGP (the publisher PGI got rid of) wanted to earn more money sooner by selling Clan 'mechs.

This is very true, but we also have some variants that are extinct so I felt that this was acceptable for the most part.

I don't think some of those weapons even leave the prototype stage either do they (Bombast being one them)?

Correct.

There are weapons available currently though not used much.
Mech Mortars: relatively unused, they begin to make a resurgence with the return of AMS to the battlefield.
Binary Laser Cannon: (my personal favorite) made useable again, at least table top wise, by the return of double heat sinks.
Rifles: (linked to heavy, but there are three of them, the light is more useless than flamers) Why anyone would want these relics I know not.
Artillery: Arrow IV DO WANT! All require location splitting and we do not really have maps big enough to justify their use. Indirect fire only. Long Tom not useable by 'Mechs.
Snub-Nosed Artillery Cannons: Short range versions of the above including the massive splash, but they fire in an indirect ballistic arc. Slow travel times and best fired at the ground than an actual 'Mech. Might be called OP. Long Tom also requires location splitting.
Fluid Gun: Odd weapon, short range, might be hard to use effectively.
Torpedos: SR and LR versions, no underwater maps to use them on and any map with both land and underwater combat could get very interesting in terms of what people take as a mix.
Vehicular Grenade Launcher: Think smoke launchers on current tanks and armored vehicles. Used for pretty much the same thing, limited damage potential, one-shot use.
One-shot: Exactly what it says for any missile system. Might be used to fill out extra hardpoints, but PGI has already shown they do not like them with the altering of the Quickdraw QDK-5M.

No.

Next?

Or as a hint...if they add all the toys now, guess what? Then you have NOTHING to look forward to in the future. Patience, children. It's a virtue.

Bishop your point is well taken, yes all the shinies shouldn't be out all at once. but at the same time ask yourself is this game really going to last 4-30+ years for the new stuff to come out?

are you really willing to wait 10 years for IS just to have close to the same kinds of weapons as the clans?
me hell no im already bored with the weapons we have.

will you be playing in 10+ years when new weapons are starting to come out?
me again hell no i will probably move on by then

and i want to play with primitive tech too :) would be really fun i think. but we can easily segregate timelines if need be. and it would appeal to a larger amount of players as well.

Ya lets stick with the current weapons and work on balance and game modes, so we don't throw lore out the window, don't have to spend millions on new weapons modules, and just because the OP sounds whiny!

Also, would they really shut down servers in the future if there is still a decently sized core group of players? Battletech/Mechwarrior fans are persistent.

dont fool yourself this game will be shut down long before even half of the weapons that comprise TT are released. go look at those dates we are talking 10-30 years just to have MOST weapons it will be close to a century (think about that decades.....) before we have ALL TT tech. this game will be a footnote by then.

we could build real battlemechs by the time PGI adds all tech.

Timeline isn't going to be 1:1 anymore. Don't fool yourselves.

It's likely PGI will want to do the time leap later on, but atm there's a clan invasion. Also, Binary Laser anyone?

and look at recent games, wow has had a 10 year run and might get 5-10 more. very few multiplayer games really last more then 10 years much less 20+.

we shouldn't expect mwo to last even 20 years its already pushing what 4? its almost half the age of wow and it hasn't even hit its stride yet. what does that bode for the next 5? or 10?

PGI is going to have to start releasing new tech, once CW is done and they have a decent amount of maps its going to have to come down to tech.

why have 300+ mechs that all use the same weapons?

IS have 27 weapons to choose from

clans have 26 weapons

Nope. I'm telling you, let us have our clan invasion.

Run a season or two of CW. When that is done, let them jump it to the NEXT interesting event, which would probably be the Jade Falcon/ Wolf refusal War which coincides with Operation Guerrero for the most part in the IS, with Marik/Liao invading and shattering the FedCom. As bad as it sounds, we could always just have CW be timelime based, when it comes. Then have the main game be getting fleshed out with more content as needed. Though people will point out we already have balance issues at the moment.

Double CW's speed too.

honestly i never had any interest in any BT lore after Tukiyyd - 3025 up to 3055 is the 'golden age' of BT for me and the story just goes downhill after that

The Beowulf BattleMech is introduced by ComStar.

That's what's developed in the next decade alone, not counting the older stuff still not in game yet.

ya but we dont see half of that stuff, no dropships no vehicles only mechs and weapons. which if you cut everything but that out of the list its surprisingly sparse and mostly clan tech very little for IS.

We want new weapons. The new weapons are better (less weight, less slots, more damage) than the old ones. Time to kill is reduced. Hurray.

Armour is doubled again to increase engagement time.

Fast forward to the Dark Age

Edit* Seriously I wouldn't mind if they move the Timeline to the late 3060's to when some of the MW games were done.

Hehe, I guess you missed my edit since they were posted the same time

I think MW3 and MW4 and their expansions were mid to late 60s if I remember right and were fun SP campaigns
