I'm in the 'too many variables' camp to evaluate from only that snip, but nice job for that effort nonetheless.

We could see rewards tweaked further. Nice changes so far from what I've seen in matches so far.

Damage is meaningless, it's all about where you put it.

Quite agree with this.

Killing damage is very important, because you assure a concret advantage to your team (dead mech cannot fire, your team can focus fire better...).

That said, it depends on situation, and which role/weapons you have in the match. For ejemple with a classic 3-erLL SHD, for me it's a good match if I manage to do around 300-400 dmg, but 4-5 kills.

If I'm in my Adder and I blast of the CT armor on 2 Direwolves before dying then I think I did my job. Same if I play smart and deal maybe 150 damage but I kill 2 mediums through side torso XL kills when they are still relatively fresh.

If I bring an AC20 type mech or a high alpha mech and play smart mid game you can get kills for very low damage. My damage per game is also low on some games where I get behind the enemy team and blast 2-3 dead from behind.

Sometimes I can take out 2 lights with my 40 alpha damage mechs so I'd have a score of 80 damage and 2 kills. That's 2 less mechs distracting my team.

If it's just dealing 200 damage I can just take my splatterpult out everyday, fight for 20 seconds and die then I'd have my 200+ damage easy.

My best are 1307 in a 3 ac5 illya on Terra Therma

Or 1310 in a 6 ML 1 AC20 Boar's head.

I get a lot less on average as I dont play as much as I used to

My best kill wise is 7 in one match but I did like 700 damage there

I figure Ive done my job as long as I kill more tonnage than I bring

LoL, I did a kill once with zero damage. Wish I had a screen, but I was a scout never saw any enemy till the last and my med laser killed him for no damage.

Ive seen that as well. Guy got zero damage in the match, he killed me by dropping down on my head. So effectively DFA but it was weird falling damage so it didnt register as him doing the damage

I run a few Heavies and Meds, though lately meds have become a rare sport for me.

Rare cases I go below 200 are the worst.
Average bad - 200-300
Normal - 300-500
Good - 500+
The best results are near 900+-.

But the damage in itself is not the best indicator. Yesterday I got 4 kills with ~350 damage. Two of them were just finishing the agonizing mechs, but two were quite fair, done by precise shooting (IS uac5 and lazorz).

its realy good right now with all the new rewards for play styles other than raw dmg kill n assist it puts lights in a good position to earn their pay and I like the hud updates for the rewards feedback.

I prolly just need MOAR drops,

Damage is not an accurate indicator of skill. In fact, inflated damage scores are indicative of poor shot placement. Many Clan mechs, for instance, get far higher damage for the same battlefield impact, due to the nature of Clan weapons and how they tend to spread damage more.

That said, I figure 1 kill and 200+ damage is minimal acceptable performance, as that's basically accounting for your own slot in the team roster.

300-400+ damage, assuming several component destructions and 5+ kills/assists is a decent game, where you've done a bit more than your share.

500-700+ damage, assuming 8+ kills/assists and lots of component destructions, is a good game, where you've made a reasonably dominant impact.

More than that, with 11-12 kills/assists, means that you've had an amazing game.

1k+ damage with only 1 or 2 kills and only a few assists means that you really need to learn to aim better, or you need to stop farming damage on crippled targets and do something meaningful instead.

To a point. At times it's just bad luck or not needlessly pursuing a kill. A perfect example is from when I finally got my Ace of Spades achievement. The previous game I had scored 1165 dmg (picked off plenty of parts) and 0 kills. Then the very next game, in the same mech/loadout, I got 10 kills, and 1100 dmg. I just got lucky in that I landed most killing blows and didn't have others get the kill on mechs I'd already worked over.

Kill and Damage are two different things.

When it comes to kill , it matters who delivers the final blow

And damage , well , it's that thing you use to take out a mech's armor BUT...says a lot of your contribution to the match.

sub-100 damage is embarrassing in pretty much anything. Beyond that though standards change, I would say to the OP that in todays game environment a match like that in a medium mech of any kind is far above average borderline outstanding. I've realized by now that Im simply a mediocre pilot and sadly always will be so I have to lower my standards, I mean Im a better pilot than ever before, but I still suck. I'm more accurate and more aware, I'm a much better team player and I'm so used to the group queue that my standards are all based on the role Im asked to play. I will say that for most mechs, IMO 1000 damage means the other team is really heavy, you had to carry REALLY hard, or your aim is kinda questionable. I've only had 4 1000 damage games ever, all of them were in a pre-ppc nerf Cicada 3m or a Treb-7K. Nowadays though I rarely crack 800 and if I do.....I've probably killed 4-7 mechs because my aim is good enough that theres just no way stuff is gonna live that long when you hit it in the same spot consistently (and like I said, I'm not even good at all)

Anything less than 23 kills per game is lacking.

Highest I've gotten is 1200+ in Canyon Network, most of it probably from Whale Hunting.

Admittedly it was a Timberwolf, but it was an SRMWolf, not anything particularly cheesy, so I like to think that's at least something of an accomplishment :<

I consider a sub-200 damage game to be a bad game. 200-400 is average, 400-800 is an excellent game.

roughly this, with prbably 400-600 being good.

but it also depends on the mech, in lrm boats and srm boats dmg is higher due to spread. Most laserboats make a lot less damage/kill generally because you can deliver damage better to the sections needed. Same for AC builds of IS, especialy compared to SC builds of th clans.

Worst case is 300 damage, if it get that i usually think about scrapping the loadout unless my team was awful (12-1 12-2 12-3 lose)

I always get really low damage in a light cause the normal run jump etc light movement makes me motion sick -.-

Which is why I play heavy/assault

I have done matches in an ECM light doing 120 dmg, killing 1 or 0 and assisting a few, covering my whole team from lrms, tagging for my friend's ones and those games were great, even for me, the poor light running for his life while trying to shield his team!
But that works for Lights only :)

It all depends on the team as well, because there's only so much damage to go around.

If you're on a completely evened out team with a solid group of guys, you likely won't see above 500dmg, with almost everybody averaging around 300-400.

On the other hand, when you have a lot of clueless players and you end up carrying the whole match, you'll see anywhere from 1200-2000.

For most games though, 600 and above is a solid, good performance.
