I started back up with the game after almost a year away. I am looking for any advice on mech builds or gameplay advice/strategies.
I have the Phoenix mechs, a couple of atlas, couple of jagers. Is there a weapon that I shouldn't bother with or is in high rotation?
What clan mech do you think is a must buy with C-Bills?
Anyway just wanted to say hello to the community and see if I could get help figuring out some loadouts.
Thank you!

welcome back.
for starters, just play with the mechs you have and you'll get a feel of whats working and what isn't. i would wait to buy anything until the quirks pass hits.

then after that see what quirks you like and roll with those, its all up in the air right now. its hard to buy anything with that looming, lol...in a good way
other than that, make sure you are getting your freebie mechs, if you haven't qulified already, do so quickly

you have a phoenix tag so you'll get the atlas(oct 21), and its overlord so you've got a king crab coming your way(mid dec), and you've probably bought MC in the past so you'll probably get a Cent soon too.(oct21 as well)

On the Clan mech front, with c-bills... right now?...
Kit Fox for ECM platform, Dire Wolf for gunbag.
Summoner is sucky, Nova is blistering hot and a huge target for the weight, so I do not recommend either of them.
As for IS mechs, Shadowhawk is considered one of the best mechs in the game atm. Jager is still great, although its XL vulnerability is still just as bad as it was.
PPC/ER PPCs had a projectile speed nerf but are still quite usable (if hot). AMS has a tendency to run out of ammo faster than it used to, but is much more effective against clan LRMs. Definitely worth bringing.
Strategy wise, bear in mind that clan mechs are generally quite fast, except the lights and the Dire Wolf, pack lasers that usually outrange IS (and outdamage too) but have longer beam burn times, their ACs fire bursts of shells (so harder to focus damage on single components) and they tend to run hotter. However, they also won't die unless you kill CT or BOTH STs. If you see a Timberwolf, shoot it. It's probably the best overall mech in the game atm and extremely dangerous in most situations.
Hmm, got things to do, might expand on this later. Hope this helps.
Edit : Stormcrow's going for c-bills relatively soon, too, and you can't possibly go wrong with it. It's about as good as the Timberwolf, really.

Here is one valuable tip.
You know those dire wolves? This is what you will look like when you walk in front of one.

So please try avoiding getting their attention.
