I'm currently running this on my 5M http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a86b7ce9bf341e5

But it just doesn't feel like i'm doing alot of damage.
I've gotten good games with it (600-700 damage), but mostly i'm around 200-300 each game.
I have no clue if this is alot or too low for a medium mech and i don't know what changes i could make.

I also bought my 2nd mech, a 2D. And i'm thinking about this http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7d2d0ccbf99e932

Any feedback is appreciated

When it comes to the 5M, this has been my build from day one and my most effective medium mech, my most fun mech aswel

SHD-5M

You can also take the 2D you posted. Compared to my build, its slightly faster and has 3 ML. However the Head mounted SRM4 has saved me on numerous occasions, and i just cant trade it away. And i also got an additional ton of AC20 ammo. And trust me, you'll run out of AC20 ammo quickly

Then again, you do have 3 Medium lasers instead of 2. But if the enemy focuses fire on your AC20 (wich they will), you'll lose 85% of your weapons capability.

I'd get rid of the AMS on your 5M and armor up.

SHD-5M is a a versatile non specialist mech I run it like that.

A very versatile build, might not be the best for meta level, but in PUG land it is a very solid build at all ranges and being able to adapt to changing conditions is king in PUGs.

Your 2D is a good build but it needs patience. It's not a balls out brawler and needs a little time to build up damage so treat it like a short range sniper and take shots with the AC20 from cover and move on. You may find yourself running out of AC20 ammo (3 tons is borderline for group play and probably not enough for solo/pug) so you might need to squeeze a fourth ton on there.

There are also builds based around a standard 250 with an AC20 and a PCC, ERPPC or LPL.

As for the 5M it's not one of the best Shadow Hawk variants. It can take the most JJs so I tend to run it like this (although the 2D does this build better really): http://mwo.smurfy-ne...85f6ce828142ecc

You can also consider 2AC5+PPC or ERPPC on the 5M and it can also do the AC20 builds.

If you are going to do 2xPPC on the 5M please don't equip an AC5 with a mere 1 ton of ammo, it's a waste of hadpoints. Get rid of the AC5 and get 2xMGs and 2xSRMs for short range and finnishing of foes.
