gpu? driver vers? windows vers? interrupt error from gpu or cpu? overclocked cpu? overclocked gpu? ram specs?

Any/all of these details would have led to a less snippy answer.

I don't know what the full error is; but update Video card drivers from the website by chance? Game updates, video driver updates, what kind of updates? Seen something about power management settings in regards to that kind of error....or what I can see of it at least. The worst that it can be is that you are out a free game. If you haven't tried driver updates, I would try there first.

I have that same exact RAM, except 2x2GB - Great stuff! If there is an error about clock interrupt, that could refer to either the RAM, GPU memory, or CPU clocking. Perhaps take a peek at the BIOS and ensure all clock settings are set to auto?

Well then I'm guessing it's most likely faulty hardware, but without more information it's hard to know exactly what's going on.

Perhaps you could host one of the crash dump files somewhere? (they're in C:\Windows\Minidump). This isn't a BSOD I have any great amount of experience with, but it's possible we might be able to track down the problems. If your settings really are all correct, then a faulty CPU, motherboard, or RAM would be my guess. I'm thinking not so much GPU or GPU memory (all GPU memory failures I've seen have been GPU driver freezes, usually with one of the parameters being 0x50).

From what I've read, it sounds like issues with high RAM or CPU clock speed can cause this (hence an above poster mentioning overclocking). I could be completely wrong here, but perhaps you have an issue with the RAM being clocked higher than your motherboard will tolerate, or a general incompatibility? Is this is the only BSOD you get, or do you get others?

we need to know what's giving you the error, whether it be windows or some program, or if you're not sure, what the error window looks like.

bluescreen generally means hardware problem. the faulting path all leads to your ATI directory. i'm not exactly sure what this fuel service is (my ATI directory doesn't have it), but try it with other games. if it crashes with other games, that's a strong indicator your GPU is bad. if it's just your free game, strong possibility it's conflicting with whatever this fuel service is. i'm guessing it's some extraneous optimizing software from ATI; try turning it off and see what happens.

Bluescreens actually are usually caused by drivers, but these particular ones are usually hardware.

If it's always the AMD Fuel Service that's precipitating the problem, though, then certainly it might be a software issue, and disabling it might fix things. You can disable it in MSconfig under Services.

These errors may narrow it down to a problem with one of the following, in the order of most to least likely:
  • Fuel
  • Device drivers
    • You could try re-installing them if you haven't already
    • It is possible for device drivers to cause an error/conflict with Fuel's device driver
  • GPU
  • CPU
I am surprised Steam haters in these forums have not been insensitive to your BSOD yet by suggesting that this a problem with Steam being a pile of **** and that you should uninstall it :)

I have never used Steam before, but I did buy a video card that is being shipped to me with Dirt for free. So I am very interested to see how resolving this issue pans out and I wish you the best, as I hope I don't run into a similar type of issue when I try out Dirt.
