Please Fix Up Our Older Mech Visuals

As a founder I would like to see our older mechs finished with respect to having the mechs show the proper loadouts instead of a generic gun on them. IE cataphract 3D, a very popular mech, as well as the Cicada 3M only show the UA/C 5 no matter what you load on it. Same with the Awesomes. As new players still need these mechs as well, could you please take the time to finish these old mechs to make them feel less like second class citizens when we take them out. Thanks!

Yep same with Commandos, get kinda borng seeing the same old weapons all the time. Would really like the cicada and Dragon updated also!

PGI is gradually going over the older mechs that haven't gotten that treatment. Centurions are coming up. Who knows who's next?


(and hint : sometimes the change is not for the better. Look at the poor Catapult)

And then there is the last minute clan mech animations which includes:

Left tilted kitfox cockpit (cockpit window tilts to the left when you are moving)
left tilted warhawk cockpit (all the time - stationary and moving)

every single animation on the dire wolf...!

etc...!

There is a lot of issues with overall consistency in mech visuals that need work:
  • Complete Weapon Visualization
    • Commando
    • Centurion (done)
    • Cicada
    • Dragon
    • Cataphract
    • Awesome
    • Stalker
  • Inconsistent Weapon Visuals
    • Locust (lasers)
    • Blackjack (lasers and autocannons)
    • Griffon (lasers)
    • Hunchback (lasers)
    • Kintaro (lasers)
    • Shadow Hawk (lasers)
    • Wolverine (lasers)
    • Catapult (lasers)
    • Jagermech (lasers)
    • Orion (missiles and lasers)
    • Quickdraw (missiles and lasers)
    • Thunderbolt (lasers)
    • Victor (lasers)
    • Battlemaster (lasers)
    • Highlander (lasers)
    • Banshee (lasers)
    • Atlas (autocannons and lasers)
The complete weapon visualization mechs are obvious, they don't change weapon visualizations at all when modifying them. So they are on the list to be updated.

But all the others listed, have inconsistencies in how they look. Take the HBK-4P. Why are the arm lasers a cylinder with a red, flat lens while the hunch has the updated black, textured lens? Why does almost ALL mechs in the game have a green, textured lens for lasers? Why does the Blackjack not visualize the AC/5 (no different than AC/2) and AC/20 (no different than AC/10)? The Orion always has an SRM/6 equipped, regardless if a SRM/4 or SRM/2 is equipped?

There are a TON of inconsistencies because I think the art designers at PGI did not have a standard set in place when performing work.

Honestly, I think the laser lens need to match the laser type (small is red, medium is green, large is blue) or they all need to be the black lens.

They're working on it. I hope they finish that hitbox pass they promised as well.

I know PGI has a lot of resources devoted to other things but at some point it would be nice to see some mechs get visual corrections.

I am sure it is on the board for things to do.

I'd actually like them to stop doing it, it looks like my poor centurion's gun arm is gonna get mauled pretty bad, the missile shoulder looks like its missile bay doors might have been removed and the pods themselves seem to be......sideways, and I don't even wanna think about the square lasers in the ct.

Visuals on mechs that you only see in the Mech Lab or 3rd person view, dont bother me. PGI, Dont spend to much time on this, keep pounding away at CW!

actually the weapon visuals can be helpful in battle...

and apart from that..consistency is also a good thing...and ofcourse the people dealing with this most likely have little to do with CW develpment...so PGI, pls keep at it

It has benefits really. Example : that passing enemy mech you cant get any target info on yet. "oh hey he has an AC 20 in that arm shoot it off!"

It's happening, slowly. Next up should be the Centurions, unless PGI sneaks something else in while we wait for December to arrive.
