In Battletech lore, the PPC is said to have a way to remove the "safeguards" that cause the minimum range (90m). I thought the module system might be the way to accomplish this. I don't think it's worth the price of weapon upgrade modules alone. Maybe simultaneously increasing the PPC projectile speed to 900m/s (half the difference between PPC and ERPPC) or even all the way to 950m/s, will balance the cost (GXP and CBill) vs reward.

No, I think a module to remove the min range on (or cut it in half) would be useful. I'd probably buy one, and I don't own many modules.

I would only support a Remove PPC Minimum Range module if there was a drawback to using it, like in the lore. You should risk damage to your 'Mech by removing the PPC field inhibitor.

As for increasing the projectile speed ... no.

Allow the module to remove the minimum range, but have the PPC do 5 damage to the location where it's mounted every time it hits a target inside that 90m limit.
