Saw a Dire Wolf in my last match with a completely unique skin. It had writing on it. Different symbols here and there. All kinds of wild stuff. I messaged the pilot a few times asking if it was a custom skin but he didn't respond.
Is it possible to create custom skins in MWO? Is this perhaps a view of the decal functionality that's rumored to be available soon?

Yeah was about to say the same, it is the buccaneer skin. It is custom for each mech and has a ton of funny little bits and bobs. Now i am not sure if all clan mechs have the full range of skins implemented yet being a IS player my self. But if you poke around a bit in the meny you get up when you choose to configure your mech you will find it. Also don´t forget to check out the cockpit items if you have not. they are adorable.
