While the LBX is generally junk (though fun-looking!), it is possible that it might be used on CLAN mechs at higher ELO's since all of their autocannons spread damage one way or the other.

I've played against top-tier teams (Lords, etc.) but to be honest, I was too busy trying to kill them (or dying, lol...) to notice what actually goes into the builds at that level of play... but I'm pretty sure IS LBX's are not on the list.

The problem with the Atlas is that it's an outright terrible long range support platform. Its low slung cowboy hard points combined with its incredibly tall profile mean that it has to fully expose itself for long range shots. Combined with its very limited number of LRM tubes and it is handily outperformed at long range by even the humble Awesome. There's no reason to bring a long range sniper or LRM Atlas while the Stalker, the Battlemaster, or the Victor exist.

On the other hand, at close range that AC20, SRMs and arm/torso lasers shred mechs. Different mechs for different roles.
