I recently came back after a break to grind out a new battlemaster after watching TheBeef's Wubbmaster (LAWL!!) video, and decided to try an XL battlemaster. The one i was thinking about getting was the 3M which had a -20% torso twist quirk if I remember...but as of this patch its gone....So I thought "SWEET! they removed that stupid and pointless quirk!" but i noticed that ALL the quirks (Good and bad) on ALL the mechs are gone, are simply arent listed in the mechs info card anymore. Did they get moved or are they coming back in a later patch?

As Deathlike said the Nov 4th patch will be adding quirks back into the game. Not that long ago most of the quirks in the game were removed as they're going to go with a different, more detailed scheme.

The plan now is that they are going to give unpopular mechs very, VERY, large quirks. The mechs in the game are going to be sorted into 5 tiers, the bonuses for each go in increments of 5% or so for weapons based on their stock loadout. A teir 1 mech would get just a dinky, little +5% less heat from Large Lasers or such, while an unpopular tier 5 mech will get a +25% less heat from that same Large Laser.

For example the unpopular Centurion-9D (the one that has the big engine cap, 2 ballistics, 2 energy, 2 missiles) is far less popular than the normal Centurion-9A, and the 9D is classed as a Tier 4 mech for now.

Centurion CN9-D Tier 4 Brawler
Additional Armor (LA) +16 (free armor, no cost, because it has that useful Captain America shield arm)
Additional Sturcture (RA) +16 (because we've learned to shoot at the right arm of all centurions, so make it last longer)
LB-10-X Cooldown +40% (which is the tier 4 rate of fire bonus of 20%, but here it is applied twice)
LB-10-X Muzzle Velocity +20%
SRM-4 Range +20% (that means 324 meters)

As you can see the big one will be the LB-10-X. The Centurion 9D will have a really high rate of fire with that gun, as well as a nice range boost to SRM-4s.

The downside is that it pretty much means you will want to stick to the stock weapon loadout on it, but that isn't always a bad thing. An LB-10-X, 2 medium lasers, and 2 SRM-4's. It might be just silly not to use that one build. Then again nobody is even using the Centurion 9D right now, so this is what could change that.

Lots of mechs are getting bonuses, the biggest for the Cent-9D, the Dragon-5N, and the Pretty Baby Awesome.

Here is a possible preview list of the new quirks coming out in November.

No Guts No Galaxy Forum post about Inner Sphere mech quirks

I'm looking forward to seeing the 3rd rate mechs come back, albeit in a niche roles/builds.

Update.

I just saw that Russ posted about changes they're making to the Quirks system. They're going to split the bonuses into half specific weapons and half on generalized weapons. You will still get big bonuses like +25% to an AC-20 on a Hunchback 4G, but if you want you can also use an AC-5 and still get a bonus, just the general 12.5% benefit.

Quote

Hunchback 4G - Tier 5 Brawler

Additional Armor (RT) +18
Additional Structure (RT) +12
AC/20 Range +12.5%
Ballistic Weapon Range +12.5%
AC/20 Cooldown +12.5%
Ballistic Weapon Cooldown +12.5%
AC/20 Velocity +12.5%
Ballistic Weapon Velocity +12.5%
Energy Weapon Heat Gen -15%
Energy Weapon Range +15%

Now customization should be a bit better, but really I think you may want to go with an AC-20 on this example.
