Also please take into account that your fine luxury car is driving on perfectly flat and smooth road on FOUR WHEELS, not running over hills, rocks, and bumpy terrain on TWO LEGS.

Okay, just to be clear, not suggesting an option to completely negate the movement of the cockpit, but just enough to tone down a little. I say this cause well, shocks can be upgraded for stiffer or smoother ride. Sway bars and cross bars to stiffen chassis. Not saying allow for the option to turn mech into a Rolls Royce cushion of air ride.
Personally the ride looks pretty good to me as is but I can see some having issues.

The legs dont stay perfectly parellel while moving, one goes up, other goes down, therefore you get an up and down motion!
Thanks for attending Physics 101. Test next thursday.

I'm not sure mechs do have much in the way of shocks (not a lore expert, someone feel free to provide evidence one way or the other).
Mechs are extremely top heavy and rely on neurohelmets and their pilots for balance. I think shocks would throw off this balance and throw off a pilot.
Also, comparing car shocks to a bipedal robot running down a steep hill is... not super accurate.

That said I suffer from motion sickness myself, so I'd prefer that they not over do it.

Tanks have shocks. Tanks are extremely bumpy. And they don't even have to deal with bipedal movement.

PC BattleTech games are all about the visceral experience and the limits of machinery. If you want smooth as glass gaming, you are playing the wrong game. When you get hit with ballistic weapons, expect your mech to spin. Chasing someone over rough ground, the cabin movement adds to the difficulty. A reason why a scout would want to lurk in rough terrain.
IN summary. NO

1) Your Cockpit couch is compensating for the sway of the 'Mech in which case the cockpit glass will be moving alot.
or 2) Your cockpit couch is nailed down, at which point your BODY will be jerked around a whole lot making your view even less stable.
The sway is appropriate because you can only dampen and compensate a cockpit couch so much.
It's like with your car, your seat is bolted down rigidly, but in a high performance car that is lowered or on tight struts you feel everything. In a cushy charger or larger lux sedan you get a really nice cushy ride.
There are no dampeners on a 'Mech, or else they are limited to the foot area only, so any if not all of the dampening needs to be put under your arse, isolating the cockpit couch from the rest of the 'Mech somehow.
Note: this is based on an engineering point of view, but even really smart devs can think of these things without being a mechanical fabricator.

This is a PvP game, reducing the vertical movement will improve your aim, so this is not something that should be set by the player, IMO.
