The purpose of the thread was to look at the system from a newcomers point of view. I think it will scare of new players because it is even harder for them to get started now. I think this is ultimatly bad for the game.

I get that all of you (and me) like (dont mind) the system because you know how to play and will make that paper regardless.

ah well.

Blame PGI for not starting ELO at the bottom, instead of mid-tier.

It is quite obvious that it cannot work when the new rewards are supposed to be role warfare based and thus not every mech will take advantage of them in every match.

True, but it is still a better approach than the rewards basically rewarding one Role, DPS, which is what the old system rewarded.

Indeed. What I am getting at is that trying to reward other roles than DPS to an equal extend would have been a better approach.

Because? Too much emphasis was put on damage and firing weapons. They still give you rewards for that, but now you don't get a big bonus for 1 point of damage to 12 different mechs. Now to get a larger amount you have to do a larger percentage of the damage. So instead of a tap on each of the 12 mechs you have to actually contribute to dealing damage on each mech. That lowered some people's earnings because they would literally just tap 12 mechs and that would be the majority of their cash.

The rewards haven't really gone down, they spread them out. Now you get rewarded not only for doing damage, but doing damage while near wounded teammates. Heck you would get a continuous reward if the 4 mechs in your lance stoop at their spawn point the whole time.

However, people still try to play in a way that rewards them based on the OLD reward system instead of paying attention to the new one. Then they want to claim the new one is broken and has lowered their rewards. It hasn't, they are not playing to the reward system.

Now that doesn't mean they have to farm the reward system, but it does mean they might want to consider certain actions. Do you really want to run ahead in your Nova and lose the Lance bonus just because you dropped with 3 assaults and you don't want to wait for them?

Because? Maybe because everyone would be happy then or at least many more would be. They apparently have a limited supply of c-bills so everybody can't have more.
