I've noticed in just about every other MMO, a general chat room, or at least some form of in-game messaging. I haven't anything resembling this in game. Where can I go to ask questions and chat with the general MWO population?

Nothing in and it is a damned shame.
They need a few new channels in chat

Looking For Group
I dont think a general chat would be good, too busy. However people looking to find friends and group up would be low hanging fruit they could put in easily to help teamwork and buff the group queue and give more for the MM to work with.
Faction will be essential for CW.
Then a link directly to the new players section in the forum and BAM you have better player communication and a better new player experience.
Seriously PGI this is something EASY to do i am sure and would make a massive difference to the learning curve and community interaction in general + teamwork
