I would love to see a mission type where you either guard multiple targets over a space of area, or to patrols to scout out an area. You could have it set up for those missions as time based where they will do them for a set amount of base money, plus salvage or units destroyed, and have it open for enemy units to enter the battle. This would work the best for border worlds. Where there is a chance of combat happening.

This would allow for the people that play when most of the action doesn't happen to be able to make money, rank, or whatever you get per mission. Then it also adds the realism effect of not knowing if there will be an enemy or not. You could even effectively recon the patrol for your unit/faction send a request for help to your faction (either in the game with a distress signal or on a post board of some kind) then when helps arrives you attack.

Same thing could happen for the defending team, they could use that distress signal to request reinforcements as well. This would help those that are just drifting around there house looking for action to find it, and make the game possible to tip the battle with well place reinforcements.

You could even incorporate travel time for world to world to prevent the entire house from going from one side of the house to the next to enter every battle.

Let me now what you guys think about this.

*edit* Square Enix made an online game that had something like this, had like 5 factions fighting for land, dont remember the name, but it was well balanced for how much action there was.
