I geuss the mechbay is the device in a hangar where the mech is attached to, se the vid in the thread.

That is a drop cradle. Basically a restraining device, maintenance gantry, and 'Mech lifting crane all rolled into one. There are anywhere between 4 (Leopard and others) and 45 (Overlord-C) cradles on various classes of dropships. But yeah, PGI is calling it and the stowage location where the 'Mech and cradle reside when not in drop position a "Mech Bay" though it is technically a "'Mech Cubical".

non ship based hangers don't have doors?

They usually have only one or two doors like aircraft hangars. Dropships vary. Besides having doors to literally drop 'Mechs for orbital or high altitude insertions (low altitude deployments are usually done by jump capable or occasionally jump pack equipped 'Mechs). Most have various numbers of doors for off/onloading 'Mechs. The ubiquitous Union has four doors, plus one for its aerospace fighter lance.

Please stop making these threads. It reminds me of what this game could have been, but probably will never be. I'm not even pointing fingers at this point, it's possible PGI just never had the money and expertise to do what they wanted.

But it still breaks my heart to think about a game where we had an actual hangar based on that concept sketch, where we could see our mechs, side by side, with their different camo patterns and colours. And a game where the 4 quick selection mechs were mechs actually placed in a dropship as pictured in the OP, ready to be deployed. Locked in berths, ready to be dropped like this:

A man can dream.

Ok, now I want that. At least for dropping in CW planetary attack/defend. That would be so cool.

Now take that video, mute it, and play "Klendathu Drop" from the Starship Troopers soundtrack. Instant epicness.

A colossus Class DropShip can Carry 36 Mechs and 72 Heavy Vehicles. It is/was teh largest Dropper capable of landing the last I read about Dropships.

Probably the largest military transport, but the Mammoth is over 2.5 times bigger. It's probably also pretty common for small mercenary units to use civilian transport vessels, cheaper and more tonnage efficient to ship mechs as cargo than in dedicated mech cocoons designed to facilitate orbital insertion.

Then again, anything Basil produces is instant epicness. Try playing a Cat K2 with the RoboCop theme in the background.
