Played 2 games last night, first in forever, and probably last in a long time. But had a drop on Frozen city, and team mates wanted to push "The saddle". Any old timer knows that as "****** ridge" (an old timer can read between the asterix), as well only a certain type of person pushes over that... Has any other terminology changed much from oldey timey days to current time?? different generation and all that :)

The cave in Forest Colony is known as the tunnel, I'm not sure why.

Because it acts as a tunnel between two locations that do not have a more direct route?

Update: God almighty this post gets too many likes.

(2) Saddle. A saddle is a dip or low point between two areas of higher ground. A saddle is not
necessarily the lower ground between two hilltops; it may be simply a dip or break along a level ridge
crest. If you are in a saddle, there is high ground in two opposite directions and lower ground in the other
two directions. A saddle is normally represented as an hourglass (Figure 10-18).

um im bad at references but my husband says this is from the army land navigation manual

Uh, the dropship? That is not a saddle at all, and we used to call it the dropship... or ridge, yes.

Saddle, now there is one on Crimson Strait.

Not sure who's trying to rebrand Frozen City's ridge/dropship as a saddle, it's incorrect.

The Saddle is the ridge in Crimson. The area you're talking about is usually refered to as the crows nest. I think some people are just using the same terms in different maps.

Meh, as long as you know where they mean. At least they're communicating.

"Saddle" as a land formation is military terminology, AFAIK. Keep in mind that MWO draws in a lot of table top Battletech players (Battletech is the game MWO is based upon.) And, at least IMX, TT gamers have a disproportionately large number of military veterans amongst them.

Dude I've been around since early-mid closed Beta. Its been called that name several times then and has been on and off changed ever since. Its like the names of Clan mechs. Many people say Mad Cat, Clansmen say Timber Wolf, and a few call it death stalker. Some have called it "****ing TWolf loser!"

saddle refers to crimson strait and not the ****** ridge of frozen city day & night fame...

The small bit between the cliff face on frozen and the small hill with the frozen building in it is a saddle, as a saddle is a low spot between two elevations. The rest of the 'ridge' isn't even a ridge at all, it is an artifical elevation increase due to a crashed out dropship.

Crimson Strait there is definitely a saddle between the central mountain and the rest of the chain.

You still knew what they were talking about, thus the communication was good enough.

Yup, Frozen city is the Crows Nest, Crimson Strait is the "you're boned if your team doesn't follow you over it".

Welcome back, Tekadept! ;)

Thanks, very shortlived though, extremely underwhelming 2 games.. thats my dosage for this half of the year, back to decent games now ;) doing those 2 was a struggle, I was about to quit after the 3mins wait for a match.

Pity I cant be deluded into think the game is "Spot on Perfect" like you otherwise I would at least try to get more drops in.

I had no idea, it wasn't until the ******* went and pushed over the ridge and then they self fulfilled the name for it. As by that point I had no interest in the match anymore, I ran over it too like a a lemming. Put me outta my misery I guess :) I think I killed something, I don't know coz all these bullshit awards kept popping up obscuring my view. Thought I was play BF3 for a minute there.

At least you can figure out this stuff by looking at the landscape. It is much worse if people expect everyone to know what they means by "let's go to theta" in Assault/Skirmish. And the worst is when they complain afterward why noone supported them in theta.
