I've never really feared timberwolves, sure there powerful and all, but i never feared them, to me just another mech to kill.

But jagermechs... they freeze the coolant in the tubes.. I see those dual guass cannons and I know I'm going to have a bad day... there the mech I associate with instant death.

Usually if they are doing it right, you never see them. If I do see them I just try to close in and kill them, they aren't exactly spry.

I used to feel that way. Once you learn the weaknesses its not as bad. Only half a pucker now.

Jagers are usually dangerous at one range, while Timbers are capable of dealing hurt at long, medium, and short.

So I fear the Timber more.

But coming around a corner, into an AC40 Jager, is a bad situation.

When I see a Jager, I see a quick kill. Hit that side torso and BOOM.

This. I drive JM6s and like them, but they have pronounced weaknesses.

As a light pilot I fear anything that carries ac20's even... oh you edited to add that.

I run my JM6-S quite a bit, and swap between the dual gauss and the dual AC20. It's usually based on the latest "which Jagermech do you fear" thread on the forums.

Although, lately I've been sticking with the 20's, because for some reason my gauss seems to have some hitreg issues, particularly on the lighter mechs. See the hit, little to no damage. 20's no problem, just cave in the cockpit.

if you can see a dual gauss jager, it's doing it wrong. the ninja ones are the ones that you need to worry about

jagers have very little armor and dual gauss has no DPS.

JAGER . . . just another meal for me, especially that AC20 or Gauss gun twin builds with XL engine :D

That funny little hands cannot protect JAGERS side torsos. Aim for that!

Jagers are still glass cannons. Harass the Gauss Jager, and he'll have hard time firing. Outrage the AC40 jagger and he can't get into combat, or keep him spinning so he can't attack. Most have to take XL engines or go very, very slow, so they have plenty of weaknesses.

Timberwolves can play many different roles, move as fast as many mediums, and carry the firepower of some IS Assaults, while having the hitboxes of a stalker. Sure, they can be taken out, but they're usually a top priority when calling primes (though so are Jagers)

I love my dual gauss Jager but really ... its a glass cannon.

The Madcat is stupidly survivable.

The Jager might make a slightly better ridge popper sniper, but rhe Madcat can take probably twice as much punishment if the pilot knows what they are doing.

I switched to a Jager A with SRM24 and LBX and a 300 XL. It's fairly quick and it packs a punch and it's easier to protect the side torsos when brawling. Plus the one shot kills are worth it - it's just as potent as the ballistic jagers, it just happens up close and personal. =]

Oh, and it has a 66.6 point alpha. Fear Mecha-Satan!

I am not particulary afraid of either of those 2 becouze there are not that many skilled players that can push those mechs to limits.Jager it self is armorless timbers are not hard to leg if they start to dance.
But those direwhales are equaly scary be it unskilled or skilled player well that is what I m afraid much more.

^^ This.

GaussYagers only dominate if you let them. If they get into a decent position, they can have a huge effect on a fight. Can they take a hit though? No. They're incredibly fragile. Huge ST's, and though their arms are tiny, if that gauss goes up, it's probably GG for the corresponding ST also.

A GaussYager's nice is high power direct fire support. It sucks at everything else.

The MadCat's niche is whatever the hell it wants it's niche to be on any given day.

I have a heart attack in my Timberwolves when I come over a hill and see a twin gauss Jaeger aiming right at me.

As a light pilot I love the insanity of fighting a 2 Gauss or A/C-20 mech. Such skill, much avoid, very nerve wrecking. Wow.

People keep saying this but there are only really 3 primary builds you'll see people run.

1) Laser Vomit (The strongest build IMO): Generally wants to stay out of brawl range due to heat issues.
2) Quad ASRM6+CERMLAS: Took a huge hit with the S variant STs, forcing it to take 4 JJs that reduce it's cooling efficiency or it's ammo or a bit of both.
3) LRMs: Either forced down to 2x Launchers or also suffers from S variant ST locked JJs.

The rest of the builds are usually a jumble of stuff, there are a few Gauss laser builds but none of them are really too menacing (and both the WHK & DWF do this better).

I generally don't focus on any Heavy mech with other high priority targets around, basically any dakka or dual Gauss Dire Wolf, any Atlas built for close range, Stalkers, Banshees, Warhawks, etc.
