I'm trying to introduce my friend to the game but unfortunately he's having some major issues.

He played a few games yesterday fine after installing the game but today he keeps experiencing a totally black screen after loading. If he ctrl+alt+dels out and comes back into the game he gets audio but still a completely black screen.

He's ran the repair tool twice but the results are the same. Very odd considering yesterday he was able to play fine.

He has a new Haswell i7 and a GTX970 so hardware capabilities aren't an issue and he's using 344.48 drivers.

Any ideas guys?

Please try to remove the profile folder from the game directory (will be automatically recreated with default settings) and see if that helps.

If you don't know how, run the repair tool once more and check the appropriate option under settings to do it for you.

Thanks I'll let him know.

Tried deleting the profile folder but the same problem occurs.

He's going to uninstall and reinstall overnight to see if that works.

Well l have played about 10 games and now l have the black screen again.
Searches for game, then connects and then get the load screen with picture then
just as i think all is good the silence and black screen.
I don't have any trouble with my other games.
My internet speed is between 4 and 5 meg and upload is 0.23 lol could this be problem?
Has anyone had this problem and if so did you resolve it?
Thanks.

a poor internet connection should have nothing to do with how your pc renders the game

what anti virus are you running ? test the game with it turned off
if that fixes it try a more game friendly AV like Avast (its free and awesome)

are you running two video cards ?
if so try and disable SLI
right click desktop > nvidia control pannel > configure sli > disable sli

also try changing the game over to Dx9 and see if that fixes it

Hi, Thanks for commenting,
I am using just one card the GTX 970. DDR4 and Haswell-E pro.
What l have noticed now is when the game is at final loading stage my screen goes black and l have no sound. SO
l exit the entire game and login etc etc and then rejoin game hoping l have not been split in two then all is ok for that one game, then i have to do it all over again. I am now on DX9 and does not make a difference. Not yet tried anti V off but will very soon.
Thanks.
Disable McAfee and no change.

Hotmeat, it is your connection speed issue. The upload bandwidth is too low, I have experience this in the past using ADSL connection. You need to use another ISP that allow your upload speed hitting minimum 1Mb to do well.

I,m going to ignore you Kyocera my friend lol :)
Yeah both DL and UP Load are poor but the up load is diabolical.
We have fibre in our town but the little green box is not close enough to our house
so they say it's not viable to do. But there is a new housing estate being built near
so hopefully they may change there minds.
In the mean time I will phone up my provider and see if they can up my up load speed.
In game my ping can be anywhere between 180 and 400. I don't usually experience lag.
I play wow also and do not experience anything like this.
Thanks for your advise ET Penang.

Are you sure the game fully locks up with the black screen? For me the time to switch from the map overview picture to the drop roster can take anywhere from less than 0.5 sec. to over 15 seconds, maybe you just have to wait a little longer given your uploadspeed.

Edit: I'm on an ADSL conection with a maximum upload of 1.5 mb witch I normaly don't reach.

Well l have waited about 2 mins before and still nothing. But if l log off completely then log back it lets me in.
I think it is defo my connection. All today it has been fine, maybe 5 seconds delay.
I have been onto EE my provider and they have upped my upload from 0.27 to 0.38 lol sound like nothing but it helps.
Going to try playing now. Wish me luck.
Thanks GTV
Update.
It must be the evening traffic what is doing it as during the day it is mostly fine. So it does feel like lack of broadband.

You can test this for a 100% confirmation
Take your pc to a friends house who has a proper ADSL2 connection and test your machine on their connection
If you still get the issue its your hardware
If the issue goes away then its confirmed as a connection issue
