#20 overall in Caraphracts.
I wanted to see my name on the board. Not this time. Oh well.
Had some great rounds too... congrats 1-19.. you truly earned it~!
One round I hit 1178 damage, 7 kills... and still only landed #20.. just wow.
'Salute' to my Cataphract brethren.

Thought i would just casually participate in the tournament, but managed to climb the ranks pretty fast in the spider bracket and finally landed 1#. Was alot of fun.
Here is my best match from the tournament. While i was playing the match i was on rank 2 and it came down to me vs 5 enemy mechs and i knew if i were able to pull it off it would secure my victory in the tournament.

Oh man, that was one of my best games of the tournament (ended up 72nd/Jenners) and I was so excited to secure my fifth kill as I ran you down. Then you jumped, spun around and finished me. I assumed it was luck, my four team mates would simply finish you off, no problem, win secured. Not.
That was entirely fun to watch a #1 Light pilot at work.
Overall the event was a bit draining.
I did play some chassis to only get one victory, to get a general idea how big the pool [of people with at least one win] was. Some big disparities, of course: Stormcrows @1500 ppl, Commandos @200.

Just checked my scores. Ranked 138th with Highlander (244 points), 302nd with Firestarter (197 points), and 39th with Quickdraws (1340 points).
I have officially shattered my beliefs about myself, and everything I know is wrong. *explodes into confetti*

3rd Hunchback
When i went to bed on Sunday i was 2nd, dropped to 3rd during the night. Monday after work i browsed the forum, and that way i learnt that the tournament didn't end 10am but was still going on until 12pm. So i decided to do another push, and two good matches brought me into striking distance again.
After enough tries i finally had that one great match i needed to get 2nd place back. However, when the ladder updated i couldn't believe that i was still 3rd. In the very same 15 minutes the other player also had a great match, enough to stay a mere 8 points in front. Doh!
Anyway, as a die-hard Hunch pilot i am pleased that my dedication for that mech pays off. What makes it even more satisfactory is that i played my 4G(F) with LBX10 loadout, a tier 5 medium with the weapon folks make so many jokes about. To top all that i am 100% PUG player.

I wasn't lucky enough to get the first position. When your in the top ten, it's the matter of getting the perfect storm of right conditions. The average skill team that's not terribly offensive, getting that close match where you can use all your ammo, getting all the killing blows and getting assists where you can't get a kill, making sure you get those left and right torso destructions. The whole thing is just stressful and mind numbing. My own luck only got me a 3rd ranking in the Jagger category. Skill is obviously involved too, but when it comes down to the wire, luck is what decides the winner. The tournament was a very frustrating event for me personally.

I think that quite a few of us are in the same position as you. Sheer luck in team comps let certain individuals achieve high scores, whereas poor luck in team ELO made you lose hard.
This tournament wasn't a bad thing per se as its a step in the right direction. But forcing people to solo queue is a frustrating and awful experience.

I am pretty sure that this tournament was engineered purely to weed out OP mechs. Considering they had just introduced a much better reward system and then blatantly ignored it was not idiocy on the devs part methinks.
They will be looking at a bar graph curve right now and comparing it against a graph of their desired result and looking for anomalies.
Hopefully the next tournament will be something that uses the new reward system in which case the frustration you refer to won't be as much a factor as it would have been in this one.

Got to 22nd place in Vindicators, that was all I tried.
After 4-5 rounds, the MM decided I was an a-hole and had a LONG string of being on the losing end of 3-12 blowouts. Not sure what I did to deserve that.
Anyway, I tried and had some fun. it was nice seeing a variety of mechs out there, rather than just the ol' 3 DWF, 3 TBR, 3 SHD, and an assortment of Ravens, Kitfoxes and Firestarters. ( or 5 Stormcrows for that matter )
I have to agree with the earlier post about light pilots, I watched a few Locust and Raven guys out there who were absolutely awesome with those things.

When it comes to ELO I think I had an opposite problem of being on very decent or good teams so it was hard to shine on teams of awesome people. Thanks again to all my team mates and opponents for dying to me.
