Several reasons actually, but we can't see your build.

1. CASE and XL engines are pointless on an Inner Sphere mech. You still lose your side torso, and CASE only stops the damage transfering to the center torso. You still take full damage to the side the ammo is in.

2. CASE in MWO doesn't work the same as the board game. It reduces the damage your exploding ammo does, but it still does damage. I think it does 10% damage transfers to the Center Torso.

3. Gauss Rifle exploding counts as "ammo".

I was driving a Daishi with 4 lb10x and 4 er medlas, 2 tons ammo under each gun ( I have changed its location now.) If CASE doesn't work as it should, then i should be able to remove it from the mech. That's the whole POINT of CASE to keep your ammo from destroying your mech if you take an ammo crit.

have you lost 1 of the side torsos before the other one exploded? that would explain it... if both torsos were intact when the ammo in one went off, you shouldnt have died... at least it didnt happen to me yet

(although there are some weird bugs with clan mechs... might be one of those ^^)

Well lol, atleast in a Dire Whale the CASE isnt sucking up any space or taking any tons....

This.

CASE never (in any version of BattleTech or MechWarrior) stopped an ammo explosion from doing damage ... it simply prevented the explosion from carrying over into another section.

CASE in MW:O doesn't reduce the damage of ammo explosions. It only prevents damage that is left over from an ammo explosion to be transferred inwards to your centertorso AFTER your side torso has been destroyed. Chance of ammo explosions on bins is 10% on destruction.
So if your Direwolf had one sidetorso already blown off and the internal structure of the second sidetorso has been destroyed by an ammo explosion on the last hit the final screen will tell you it was an ammoexplosion.

yep, I was thinking CASE II, which vent all but 1 damage out the rear armor. Still aggravating.

why should you be able to remove something that takes up no space or weight?

If I remember correctly, Clan CASE doesn't take up crit space or weight so there's nothing to "remove".

All Clan mechs have CASE built into them for free.

#2 is completely incorrect.

It just stops the transfer of damage from transferring pass the CASE section.

In the board game you are correct.

Are you so sure that is the case in MWO?
