Pretty proud of myself to be frank!

Alas my graphics card bitched out during the second day-- I used to be in second! ;^(
Also lost 5th place by 2 points, heu.

I1. Where did you place?
Much to my surprise, I placed 6th on the Warhawk chassis

2. What loadouts were most effective?
4x15 CLRM and 4 CERML, mods for distance on ERML and CLRM 15, 13.5 tons ammo

3. How many matches/How much time did it take?
Started wining big on Sunday night and early Monday, I was up to 5th when I logged Monday morning, then Monday night I couldn't come up with anymore.

4. What was the funniest/weirdest thing that happened to you in the tournament?
Had a lot of close matchs and found myself at the end running around withafter LRMs ran out of ammo. Sometimes it was just 2 ERML on left arm, ou lose all LRMs when you're right torso taken out.

5. Did you play against your rivals and how did you do?
I had a couple of matches with Iron Kansas and he just crushed it, and I was bringing up the rear. One match in Crimson Straits we had like half the team on the leader board. The aptly named Vindcator Jones, Shikt on Trebuchets, to name a few.

I placed first in the Wolverine bracket, using exclusively the WVR-7K loaded with the tested and true 3x Artemis-SRM6, 3 MedL build. It's worth noting that I think this is pretty much the only build worth using out of all three variants of Wolverine. That also happens to be the best overall shadowhawk build in my opinion, though the shadowhawk does it slightly better thanks to high mounted laser hardpoints.

I don't really know how many matches I played. On the first day I pounded out a good few hours of play and had an amazing game pretty much every time I won, causing me to break 2000 points shortly after my first ten wins. Winning at all in the solo queue was essentially luck of the draw as usual though, so those wins took a while. At that point I was head and shoulders above everyone else in the bracket so I took a break for a day. Early Sunday I played for about three more hours, replaced some of my worse games then called it, leaving my score where it sat at 2195.

I suppose my most memorable moment was getting the final kill of a match by "dunking" srms into the back of a direwolf after jumping over him. I don't remember playing against my rivals more than a few times, but having a wolverine on the other team is not a huge deal so I didn't really pay much mind. I was more concerned the several times I ran into Battlecruiser, another member of Kong, who placed highly in the Direwolf bracket. Those games didn't turn out well for me, either my team lost or I died early. Whether or not BC had much to do with that is hard to say.

1. 6th place for QKDs
2. The only loadout used except for 3-4 matches was my 4H, 4mlas and 3SRM4
3. Well I played Friday and Saturday evenings, a lot on Sunday, and Monday evening. Though Sunday I think I hardly made any progress, most of my wins were in the evenings. In retrospect I should have just skipped Sunday (or played less.) That said I didn't have anything else to do that day.
4. Jenner crotch smashed me with his head and I blew up
5. Saw a few other QKD pilots on the leaderboard around but they were always on my team it seemed.

This is the most interesting figure out of all the rest. Because many people play all weekend, with upwards of up to 200-250+ games. I care less about what place you got and more about how long it took you to get there. I mean, if you played ~20+ hours over the weekend in solo queue for X place, was it worth the effort put into it?

Worth.

Ran Griffins Got 21st

Posted Image

Did this with two builds I did fairly equally well with.

Griffin-1N 2srm4 1srm6 3Mlas AMS
Griffin-3M 4lrm5 1ERLlas 1Mlas

Took 3 days and did best early sat and mon.

Most interesting match was one where an enemy locust took our team from 5-1 to 1-1 for a tie. If he had a bit more time it would have been a win.

Saw several people I knew, but don't have rivals.

1. Seventh in Mad Dogs

2. I used SRMs and Streaks, off and on. I didn't want to use LRMs, so I ended up yanking all of my other weapons in the arms out (since they go fast anyway) and cheating armor for more ammo. Without the LRMs for assists, I needed to get 1k plus matches reliably. In late game if I did run out of ammo, I rammed people.

3. Some on Friday afternoon; a good bit Saturday afternoon evening and a few on Sunday. Monday was the wife's birthday, so I went with what I had on Sunday (which was 4th, but fell to 7th). Getting onto the list was rough, but ultimately doable. Moving up in those last few was very intense and harder than one might think. Getting a 2200 score means you had 10 very very good matches. This weekend I had matches that a month or two ago I would have thought "wow, great match" and instead looked at it and said "3 kills 3 assists 1000 damage ... not good enough to improve".

4. I had a tie on Friday that was awesome - could it have been a win. I was dry on ammo and the enemy atlas wasn't. I danced around enough to keep him distracted so he couldn't cap our base. It would have made a nice win:

As would this defeat ....

But the funniest was when I ended up against someone from my unit on opposite sides. He wasn't doing the tournament, just running through some x2 XP daily. We tried to avoid each other I think, but I ran up the side of the crater on Caustic Valley and found myself face to face with him. We both alpha'd and backed the hell up ... and I hit my arti strike. I got the kill ;-)

5. Not sure if I have rivals - just folks I know from the forums or my unit. Friendly competition is still competition though, so I tried to do my best to kill them. One match I tore up one of the Locust guys on the top 10, and he returned the favor the very next match. That kind of stuff I love to see - good, healthy and bloodthirsty competition.

For my health: Heck no
For my e-peen: Sure, a little bit
Overall: Only if I want to torture myself (and grind for a purpose).

1. Where did you place?
#7 Locust

I played a handful of Stalker games and placed 279 (lol)
I played a handful of Jager games and placed 649 (lolol)
I played 1 Nova game, obviously didn't even show up haha.

2. What loadouts were most effective?
Started out with the 3M, 190 XL, MLx5
After a few games, I bought a fresh 1E, which I used 190 XL, MLx6. I grinded it up the old fashion way for everything except speed tweak. After a couple days of playing, I average 354 damage in this mech, which is more than I get in Ravens lol
I used the 3S (190 XL, SRM2x3, ML) and 1V (190 XL, MGx4, ML) to throw in some variety but I mostly relied on the laser builds.

3. How many matches/How much time did it take?

I played Friday evening for a couple hours, and spent a good deal of Saturday playing (while marathoning the Cosby Show in the background LOL). Sunday I played a bit but not as much as Saturday. Didn't get any games on Monday due to real life boring stuff.

4. What was the funniest/weirdest thing that happened to you in the tournament?

Beating the crap out of a RVN-3L Sniper ;)

5. Did you play against your rivals and how did you do?

A highlight was being in the same lance as Taragato (#14 Locust). I wish I coulda run into more of the degenerates from "The Underrated Locust Thread" but I had to settle for dueling some Commandos. I don't think I play this game enough to have actual rivals haha, but I didn't get to kill anyone I hated

Overall, I had a lot of "good for a Locust" games (1 kill 400 damage). But, I never was able to get that "miracle game." The most damage I've ever done in a Locust is about 800, the most kills is 6. Unfortunately, I didn't really get near any of those numbers.

1. Where did you place?

I placed first using the NopeVa. 11th for the Banshee.

Quote

2. What loadouts were most effective?

I couldn't call the WubShee effective, but it was fun. Swapped to 6 ML, 2 LL after awhile, it works alright.

Nova was started with a 5ERML, LPL, TC1 and ~20 DHS, which was swapped to 6 ERML, 5MG 3k ammo, TC1 and around the same ~20 DHS.

Both performed well enough, and the long laser duration was perfect for farming assists, mixed with the JJs. I could get 3 assists in a single bound.

Quote

3. How many matches/How much time did it take?

I spend too much time on the Banshee, but the Nova wasn't too bad, actually.

Looks to be about 50 matches in the WubShee, maybe 12 in the S variant.

Nova would be closer to 30.

Quote

4. What was the funniest/weirdest thing that happened to you in the tournament?

Nothing excessively strange happened. I suppose the lag on the final kill came back a couple times...including this one:
Posted Image

I was a little bit worried I had died....to the single ML that LURM boat had.

A full second before the kill registered. It hadn't done that for a few patches.

Quote

5. Did you play against your rivals and how did you do?

I played against Mister D a fair bit, the #3 Nova. Including in that above match...that was a wonderful match. 4 kill, 8 assist, 1123 damage. Unfortunately, that was the only "perfect" match, or closets to, I could get.

Still, I'll take it. I just wished it had happened on a Banshee.

1. Where did you place?

the lucky 7th in the Nova.

2. What loadouts were most effective?

I ran 12CERMl tc1 rest heatsinks, there are clearly better ones, but Nova wouldn't be Nova without 12 CERML.

3. How many matches/How much time did it take?

No idea many, played a lot (as sual) just sticked with the Nova as chassis instead of mastering the emchs that were unmastered.

4. What was the funniest/weirdest thing that happened to you in the tournament?

Sunday evening I was killed by lrms.

I was at a hilltop, a warhawk fired a stream of lrm40. I went back to hide, thinking the lock gone would make them hit the landscape. But instead the stream of 40 missils mowed both my legs off which were slightly Orange, so roughly 30 ho both in totally. That was porbably the most weird and amazing way I ever died.
I for the first time hoppd in the river rimson staight building having giant red cabbage.
And the Hover Nova. I jumped on the build and kept "floating there" unable to escape wince I was still judged as "in air" giving me no JJ regeneration. Since the JJ change my Nova tends to stuck a lot in the landscape :/

5. Did you play against your rivals and how did you do?

I had one match with W A R K A H N, we lost it, other than that I saw no one of my braket with nova''s dropping with or against me.

  • 1. 5th on Battlemaster (2203).
  • 2. Over 2000 LRMs + TAG
  • 3. 50 - 60 matches
  • 4. Pure boat hate is weird. Why you buggin out? people clock LRMs targets just as much. Let the damage to kill ratio show you that LRMs are doing more damage with less kills generally. If you are picking targets with LRMs for kills exclusively, as a boat , you will not burn up all your ammo for great scores. And it takes skill to get 1300+ Damage multiple times in any build/chassis
  • 5. 3rd and 4th place tied at one point. That rivalry made them unreachable for me.

1. Where did you place?
26th in the Awesome list. 1897 pts.

2. What loadouts were most effective?
I primarily ran an 8Q with 3LPL, 4MPL. Very effective if you stayed with the lance. Some matches were in my 8R. Lrm's. I found the LRM's to be very hit and miss given the tournament.

3. How many matches/How much time did it take?
I did 34-36 matches on Saturday with a dozen in the 8R, another 4 on Sunday

4. What was the funniest/weirdest thing that happened to you in the tournament?
I got legged under the loading platform 100 meters from the earth ramp(my Awesomes never get legged). I sat against the wall and murdered 5 mechs in the next five minutes. I didn't move they came to me. I always got the drop on them and it was sweet beyond reckoning. That simply never happens.

5. Did you play against your rivals and how did you do?
I played against you, we were on opposite teams. We were on HPG and as the two teams circled each other your team Capped our base and won. You scored 15 damage. I was in the basement and got a kill. We never met. Awesomes were few and far between in matches.

I placed 20th in Jagermechs, but did not play almost all day Sunday and Monday. I think I could have eeked into the top 15 if I had kept trying, but I played so much Friday and Saturday, and the weather was so nice this weekend, that I had to spend time with the wife and kids before winter comes, ha!
